Ajal tertekan dijangkiti Covid-19

Serdang: Seorang warga emas ditemukan mati di rumahnya di Jalan BPP 1/6 Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, di sini, semalam, dipercayai membunuh diri akibat tertekan dijangkiti virus Covid-19.

Sebelum kejadian itu, mangsa berusia 66 tahun sering mengatakan kepada isterinya, “lebih baik mati daripada sakit seperti itu.”

Ketua Polis Daerah Serdang Asisten Komisioner Razali Abu Samah berkata, si mati sering mengadu kesakitan kepada isterinya dan berada dalam keadaan murung apabila disahkan positif Covid-19.

“Si mati membuat ujian calitan tekak Covid-19 di hospital swasta pada 7 Januari lalu dan didapati positif sehari kemudian.

“Ujian Covid-19 kali kedua juga sudah dibuat 18 Januari lalu dan keputusan dua hari kemudian menunjukkan si mati masih positif.

“Si mati sudah membayar kos yang tinggi di hospital swasta untuk rawatan Covid-19 dan sering mengatakan kepada isterinya lebih baik mati,” katanya.

Menurutnya, siasatan di lokasi kejadian mendapati ia berlaku di rumah teres dua tingkat yang hanya didiami si mati bersama dengan isteri.

Siasatan lanjut di tempat kejadian, katanya, tidak mempunyai sebarang kamera litar tertutup (CCTV) .

“Rakaman CCTV jiran si mati pula tiada sesiapa yang menghala kepada rumah simati.

“Tiada sebarang kesan pecah masuk dan umpil. Tiada sebarang barangan berharga hilang di dalam rumah.

“Rumah juga dalam keadaan yang teratur. Jiran rumah juga tidak mendengar sebarang bunyi pertengkaran ataupun orang menjerit,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, Ketua Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Daerah Serdang Deputi Superintendan Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi juga masuk ke dalam tempat kejadian bersama dengan anggota Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) membuat pemeriksaan dan mendapati tiada sebarang unsur jenayah yang berlaku.

“Mangsa didapati mati akibat kesan kelar pada tengkuk dan pisau masih berada di sebelah si mati.

“Kes diklasifikasi sebagai mati mengejut (SDR) sehingga menunggu laporan bedah siasat,” katanya.

Prior to the incident, the 66-year-old victim often told his wife, “It is better to die than to be sick like that.”

Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Razali Abu Samah said the deceased often complained of pain to his wife and was in a depressed state when Covid-19 was confirmed positive.

“The deceased underwent a Covid-19 throat smear test at a private hospital on January 7 and was found positive a day later.

“The second Covid-19 test was also held on January 18 and the results two days later showed that the deceased was still positive.

“The deceased had already paid a high cost at a private hospital for Covid-19 treatment and often told his wife it was better to die,” he said.

According to him, the investigation at the scene found that it happened in a two-storey terrace house where only the deceased lived with his wife.

Further investigation at the scene, he said, did not have any closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

“CCTV footage of the deceased’s neighbor did not lead anyone to the deceased’s house.

“There were no traces of break-ins and traps. No valuables were lost in the house.

“The house is also in order. Neighbors also do not hear any quarrels or people shout,” he said.

He said, Serdang District Criminal Investigation Division Head Deputy Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi also entered the scene together with members of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) made an inspection and found that no criminal element occurred.

“The victim was found dead due to a bruise on the neck and the knife was still next to the deceased.

“The case is classified as sudden death (SDR) pending a post-mortem report,” he said.
