Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Sultan Abdullah has denied involvement in the “Santai Teh Tarik Bersama 4 Putra Mahkota” programme, said to be held tomorrow.
A source from the Pahang palace said the programme, which is viralled on social media, was not on Tengku Hassanal’s itinerary.
“Tuanku Tengku Hassanal is scheduled to attend programmes in Pahang the whole day tomorrow,” said the source when contacted by Bernama here today.
According to the source, Tengku Hassanal does not want his name to be used by any quarters without the permission of the Pahang Palace.
The poster on the programme, with images of Tengku Hassanal, the Tengku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, went viral on the social media.

PETALING JAYA: A so-called “teh tarik” session featuring four crown princes has created a minor royal storm in a teacup, with the Selangor royal press office issuing a denial about any such thing.
A poster of the purported event was circulated yesterday, featuring images of the crown princes of Johor, Pahang and Selangor.
Questions were raised about whether it was fake, while some claimed it was an Umno event.
Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam, was among those who shared the poster. He said in a broadcast text message that he would be attending, and would also be at a “mega rally” against the Rome Statute on Saturday.
On the poster were images of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin; the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim; and the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
The fourth prince was not featured, but the poster carried a teaser stating that those who wanted to know the identity of the fourth prince could find out by attending the event, supposedly to be held at 5.30pm tomorrow at Makhota Parade, Melaka.
Shortly afterwards, Lokman broadcast another text message, saying the event may not happen, and that he had come to know that the four princes were getting “all sorts of calls”.
It was possible that the palaces were upset in being linked with a rally against the Rome Statute, after tension arose between Putrajaya and royalty, causing the federal government to withdraw ratification of the treaty.
Earlier today, the Selangor Raja Muda’s office denied that Tengku Amir was part of the event and said his photographs had been used without the consent of the palace.
Tengku Amir’s private secretary, Saidatul Asyikin Muhammad Johar, urged the rakyat not to be easily influenced by false information. An image of the poster, with the word “palsu” (fake) across it, was posted on the Selangor Royal Office social media pages.
So far it is not known who was behind the purported tea party. Other media reports have alluded it to being an initiative by the princes themselves.
As of press time, Tunku Ismail has not responded to the matter, while Tengku Hassanal of Pahang is reported to have said he is not involved, according to a site called twentytwo13.com.
Johor’s Tunku Ismail has been vocal about the Rome Statute and has also been engaged in a war of words with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who has had an icy relationship with the Johor royal house for decades.

The Selangor Raja Muda’s office has refuted claims that Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin will be involved in a ‘Santai Teh Tarik’ event with the public in Malacca.
According to a flyer for the event shared by Umno supreme council Lokman Noor Adam yesterday, the event was supposed to involve four princes.
The flyer had identified three of the four as Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim and Tengku Amir. The fourth was not identified.
In a statement issued by Tengku Amir’s private secretary Saidatul Asyikin Muhammad Johar, the use of the crown prince’s photograph without the consent of the palace was “regretted.”
“We urge the rakyat not to be influenced by false information which can cause confusion, without verification from the palace,” he said.
Yesterday, Lokman told reporters that the event, scheduled for April 29 at Mahkota Parade, would not happen due to “several phonecalls” he received after making news of the event public.
“I’m stressed. I only wanted to have tea with four crown princes at Mahkota Parade on Monday, but they’re getting all kinds of phone calls.
“Looks like the people’s wish to have tea with their crown princes may not happen,” he said in a WhatsApp group for reporters.

Umno supreme council member Lokman Adam today announced a “teh tarik” session featuring four princes, only to say that it may not happen an hour later due to several “phone calls”.
Lokman this evening circulated a poster which stated that the event in Malacca next Monday would be attended by the crown princes of Johor, Selangor, Pahang and another “mystery” prince.
He invited the public to turn out in force for the event, stating that they could take “seflies” with the princes.
“I will be attending the teh tarik session and I will also attend the ‘Mega Rally against the Rome Statute: In Defence of Parliamentary Democracy and Constitutional Monarchy’ gathering at Dataran Merdeka at 2pm (next) Saturday,” he said in a statement later.
However, an hour later, Lokman sent out another information blast on Whatsapp stating that the event may not happen due to several “phone calls”.
“Stressed. I only wanted to have tea with four crown princes at Mahkota Parade on Monday, but they’re already getting all kinds of phone calls.
“Looks like the people’s wish to have tea with their crown princes may not happen,” he said.
