Graver crimes than CM singing ignored: Kit Siang on son’s anti-GST warble
Lim Kit Siang believes there is nothing seditious about his son and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng rendering an anti-GST song with children during the launch of free tuition classes.
“I have not seen the content (of the video). But as far as I know, I don’t think there’s anything seditious. Is there anything seditious?” he replied when quizzed on the matter.

Asked if he felt it was wrong for his son to do so, Kit Siang replied: “I think there can be an argument whether the CM should be singing.”
However, the DAP veteran accused the authorities of turning a blind eye to graver issues.
“I think there are greater crimes in the country and greater offences in the country which have been overlooked.
“I think that is the greatest crime, to overlook great crimes and to go for this sort of things. Please print that,” he said.
Kit Siang was speaking at a press conference at the Parliament lobby this afternoon.

Cops to take Guan Eng’s statement on GST sing-along
GEORGE TOWN: Police will record Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s statement over a goods and services tax (GST) parody sing-along at a free tuition class organised by the state government last weekend.
State police chief Commissioner A Thaiveegan said several police reports were lodged against Lim at the Patani Road police station yesterday.
“We will investigate under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. We will record his statement as soon as possible,” he said today.
The law deals with the improper use of network facilities or network services, and carries a fine not exceeding RM50,000, a prison term not exceeding one year, or both.
Yesterday, a political party and two NGOs alleged that Lim had brought a compact disc to the tuition class and taught the children to sing the “ABC” song which allegedly contained lyrics insulting the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
According to Bernama, Penang Front Party chairman Patrick Ooi, Penang Surplus Welfare Association president Sophian Mohd Zain and 1Malaysia People’s Welfare Association president Mohd Ibrahim A Siahoo lodged their police reports yesterday.
The video was played on Saturday morning when Lim was officiating the free tuition class.
During the session, Lim was seen singing and dancing to the tune of the song, watched by the students.
The free tuition comes under the state’s youth empowerment programme Penggerak Komuniti Muda Pulau Pinang (Peka) at the Mutiara Idaman 2 flats.

A-B-C-D-GST, now you know your DAP, says BN
A BN spokesman questions the Penang chief minister for dishing out political propaganda to children.
GEORGE TOWN: Two days after a DAP MP belted out a parody of the alphabet song in Parliament to mock the goods and services tax (GST), Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today joined a sing-along of the song with residents of a flat here, drawing condemnation from Barisan Nasional (BN).
A video making rounds on Facebook shows the DAP secretary-general dancing to the tune of the song as it was being played on a large screen complete with lyrics.
“A-B-C-D-GST, prices rise for you and me, mesti makan maggi mee, semua kena GST, bayar untuk 1MDB,” goes the song.

The so-called “GST song” was recently sung in Dewan Rakyat by Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, to drive home her point that Malaysians were burdened by the consumer tax.
But BN’s strategic communications deputy chief Eric See-To said Lim was guilty of indoctrinating children with political propaganda.
