‘Who are you to contest in Alor Gajah?’ MCA division asks PM’s aide

Published on  |  Modified on

MCA Alor Gajah has questioned where Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s political aide Wong Nai Chee was, when Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Aziz purportedly insulted the Chinese community.

The division also expressed doubts about Wong’s political contributions in the past, and asked what right he had to contest in the Malacca parliamentary seat.

This follows a report that Wong could replace Alor Gajah incumbent MP Koh Nai Kwong in the coming general election.

“If you want to be a candidate, come and serve, and perform first.

“As the PM’s Chinese political secretary, what have you done? (Have you) solved any Chinese issues?

“Even if we don’t look at the issues of the past, what has Wong done during the recent Nazri’s ‘dog’ remark?” MCA Alor Gajah division secretary Chew Chong Lin told reporters yesterday, after attending a rally in support of Koh.

If Koh is not fielded in Alor Gajah, the MCA division may not contribute to the election campaign for any other candidate, he added.

Out of 38 MCA Alor Gajah branches, only six have expressed neutrality and would support any BN candidate, while 32 branches remain adamant that they want Koh to defend his seat, said Chew.

ANGRY MCA members are calling for a protest over a decision to field Wong Nai Chee as the candidate for Alor Gajah parliamentary seat.

Wong is Prime Minister Najib Razak’s political secretary and local leaders don’t want the former Kota Melaka MP to replace Koh Nai Kwong

They are calling for 10,000 MCA members to protest the decision tomorrow at the Machap Baru Chinese primary school.

Social media is buzzing with the news of the protest.

Koh is being moved to the Machap state seat but his division is not happy about it and has cancelled several functions planned over the weekend.
