Viral video of cops in nightclub: Johor police begin probe
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are carrying out an internal investigation regarding a viral video that apparently shows seven policemen, including the head of a police station, enjoying themselves inside an entertainment club in Johor recently.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said he was awaiting a full report from Johor police chief Mohd Khalil Kader on the video spread over social media.
“Investigations will be conducted without protecting any policemen if they are involved in improprieties,” he told Bernama today.
Fuzi said he had ordered the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department at Bukit Aman to probe the incident.
The eight-second video was loaded onto Facebook this evening under the account of Jia Xing Chen with the title: “Cops enjoying themselves at nightclub with gambling towkay.”
It is understood the policemen were lance corporals from the D7 division of the police which deals in secret societies, gambling and vice.
Khalil, when contacted, said the seven had been transferred to another division pending the probe which had already begun.
