If speaking out is a crime, then jail me – Johor prince

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, noted for speaking his mind, said he did so remind the leaders to serve the people with integrity, dedication and devotion.
“If that is a crime, then they have to put me in jail, because I am going to continue to do it,” he said.
He revealed this on a local television talk show, ‘Obviously Harith Iskandar’, on Astro Awani last night.
“Whatever I voice up is not personal to anyone. It is just a reminder. If I can’t even remind leaders in this country who are there to serve the people, what is the point of me being here?” he asked.
“I was brought up my family, especially my father and grandfather, always to be honest and straightforward.
“Sometime we have to be diplomatic, but I prefer to be direct to get the message across, otherwise people won’t take it seriously,” he said.
He also disclosed he will pass on the messages of the people to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, whom he will meet on August 12.
“I am invited for tea with the prime minister on (Aug) 12. So, if you have any message you want to pass to him, you can see me after the show,” he quipped.
He, however, did not elaborate the purpose of his session with Najib.

PETALING JAYA: Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim says that he will continue to speak out and remind the nation’s leaders of their duties to the people.
The outspoken prince said this during a talk show Obviously Harith Iskandar which aired Saturday evening on Astro Awani where he highlighted the importance of the royal institution and its role in reminding leaders of the need to serve the public with integrity.
“This country has a lot of potential leaders. And I hope the royal family will understand and play a role in terms of this. If you realise, I’m the only one speaking up. I hope that everybody plays a role because at the end of the day, we’re not here to go against any system. We are here to voice out our opinions for the betterment of the country,” he said.
Tunku Ismail said that when others found out he was going to appear on a live TV show, officers from Putrajaya and his father Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, were tense as they did not know what he was going to say.

“Whenever I give a piece of my mind or an advice, whether it’s me or my father, it is never for us but it is for you guys,” he said, gesturing to the audience.
“Whatever we voice out today is nothing personal. I’m not going against someone or some people. If I’m at the place I am, and I can’t even remind leaders in the country who are serving the people, what’s the point of me being here?” he said.
“Voicing out for the people, reminding leaders to serve the people with integrity, dedication and devotion. If it’s a crime, they’ll have to put me in jail because I’m going to continue doing it,” he said.

SELECTED QUOTES BY HRH CROWN PRINCE OF JOHOR DURING THE TALK SHOW PROGRAMME WITH HARITH ISKANDER
• This is my father’s advice that he always gives me, “You never mix three things with politics: religion, education and business. If you mix politics into these three things, you will give birth to corruption.
• Whatever that me and my father sacrifice today is never for us, it’s only for your children, my children and our grandchildren for future generations.
• If you can change two things in Malaysia, what would you change ?
Answer TMJ : Education & Kill Corruption.
• We are here not to fight against one another, we are here to share opinions to make sure Malaysia progresses as a nation.
• In my position, my duty and responsibility is to remind leaders in the country to serve the people with full integrity, dedication and transparency. If reminding leaders is considered as a crime, they should arrest me and put me in jail because that is something that i will continue.
• I do not the right candidate to be the President of FAM because I have JDT. There will be a conflict of interest as I will be biased towards my state. As I’ve mentioned earlier, we need to find someone who’s not affiliated to any state FAs or participating clubs.
