BESUT: A banana thief, who had slashed a plantation caretaker when confronted, was in turn slashed when he returned to steal the fruit the next day.

Besut police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the drama unfolded yesterday when the thief had trespassed into a plantation at Felda Tenang, Hulu Besut.

“The thief, from Felcra Keruak, was caught red handed by the caretaker, chopping a ripened banana fruit stalk.

“After a heated exchange, the thief slashed the caretaker and ran away…

He said that the following day, the same thief was caught in the act yet again by the caretaker making his rounds.

This time around, the thief was left bleeding from a slash wound near a river, groaning in pain, by the plantation owner who reported the matter to the police.
