Suspended bus company still operating says report

PETALING JAYA: It is business as usual for QisTna Express Sdn Bhd despite having its licence suspended after one of its buses rammed into 10 cars recently.
According to checks by the New Straits Times (NST), the bus company was still openly selling its tickets at the Integrated Transport Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan, and making trips to at least five southbound destinations.
A journalist from the English daily had even bought a 1pm trip to Tampoi, Johor.
The bus departed with at least 10 passengers who were not aware of the suspension.
QisTna’s departure times were also displayed on the terminal’s information boards. It had five scheduled trips yesterday – to Tampoi, Larkin and Skudai in Johor, and Little India and Beach Road in Singapore.
However, no trips were available to northbound destinations.
The daily spoke to a bus driver from a different company who said he was surprised that QisTna’s tickets were still being sold as he did not see any of its buses at the depot earlier in the day.
An attendant at QisTna’s counter appeared to be at a loss for words when approached, and only managed to say the company may be using a “different bus”.
“Yes, perhaps they are using a different bus. Maybe they will be more careful this time,” the attendant said.

Bus company in Menora Tunnel crash suspended a month
PETALING JAYA: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has suspended for a month the operations of the bus company involved in Sunday’s crash near the Menora Tunnel.
Qistna Express Sdn Bhd, which has 26 buses in its fleet, is facing suspension following the crash, which saw one of its buses crash into 10 vehicles on the North-South Expressway near the Menora Tunnel, outside Ipoh.
“The suspension was carried out following the body’s audit of the company’s fleet, which found disobedience of mandatory safety requirements,” said SPAD chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah in a statement on Wednesday.

Bus that rammed into 10 cars on NSE had 49 speeding summonses

Forty-nine of the 63 summonses issued on the express bus which slammed into 10 cars on the North-South Expressway (NSE), near the Menora Tunnel, last Sunday, were for exceeding the speed limit.
Perak police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Wan Jamil Wan Chik said the bus also had nine summonses for moving slowly in the right lane.
“Besides these, it has two summonses for being driven out of control, two summonses when the driver failed to show his driving licence, and one for overtaking at a prohibited location.
“All the summonses are unsettled since 2011 until now,” he told reporters after ‘Op Selamat 7/2016’ at Km29 Ipoh-Lumut road, near Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), in Parit today.

Out-of-control bus rams into 10 vehicles on highway

IPOH: Traffic near the Menora Tunnel on the North-South Expressway came to a standstill after an out-of-control bus rammed into 10 vehicles on the south-bound lane Sunday.
Perak traffic police chief Supt Wan Jamil Wan Chik said the accident occurred at KM265.8 of the highway.
He said traffic was already heavy on that stretch when the bus came around a curve on the highway and tried to squeeze between the two cars.
“The bus then rammed into the right side of one of the cars before hitting the left side of the another car.
“The bus did not stop and rammed into a third car in front, causing seven more cars to crash into one another,” he said.
