Wife-beater in viral video arrested
KOTA KINABALU: An unemployed man has been arrested after a video showing him beating his teenage wife in the city went viral.
The 20-year-old local man was arrested less than 12 hours after the alleged incident that occurred at about 9am Wednesday.
Police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said the victim, a 16-year-old holder of the IMM13 card, had lodged a report saying that she was beaten by her husband over some family matters.
“The man was nabbed in Sinsuran near where they were living, while the victim was taken to the hospital to treat her injuries,” he said adding that the couple has a 10-month old son

Teen wife threatens husband with knife, beaten up by husband

KOTA KINABALU: A teenage girl sustained neck injuries after she was slapped and kicked by her husband in a scuffle at Sinsuran here, yesterday.
In the 9am incident, the 16-year-old mother was armed with a kitchen knife and had pointed it at her husband following an argument. It was learnt that the girl’s 20-year-old husband had refused to give her money to buy diapers for their 10-month-old son.
City police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra said the husband then went out of their rented room in the Sinsuran shophouses and got into the front passenger seat of a friend’s car.
He said the enraged wife chased him and stopped him from leaving to discuss their problems. “She had also grabbed a knife, to use in self-defense in case her husband turned violent,” he said.
Chandra said the woman pointed the knife at the husband to scare him, but the husband exited the car and grabbed the knife before slapping and kicking his wife on the ground. He then left the scene in his friend’s car.
