Perkasa fears crime, dogs and alcohol attracting tornadoes
NGO offers a “sound” reason for the treacherous thunderstorms and tornadoes in the country.
PETALING JAYA: In a groundbreaking deduction that put meteorologists to shame, Perkasa Selangor has revealed that it is Malaysia’s sins and not climatic changes that are attracting natural disasters like tornadoes that wreak havoc on the country.
In a recent Facebook posting, Selangor Perkasa wrote, “Apakah kerana adanya kemaksiatan yang berleluasa seperti pusat judi, pelacuran, pesta arak dan pesta memegang anjing antara menjadikan daya penarik.”
Loosely translated, it reads “Could it be that widespread sin in the form of gambling joints, prostitution, alcohol festivals and dog-touching events are attracting it (tornadoes) here?”
This revelation is backed up by further observations that tornadoes only frequented the South China Sea and if they touched ground, it was countries like the Philippines and Vietnam that experienced its full-blown wrath.
Offering food for thought, the posting begins with the imposing question of just what exactly was making tornadoes seek our country now when all this while it had skirted our shores with no intention to visit us.

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 30 — An hour-long torrential downpour, which started around noon yesterday, caused flash floods in Relau and Bayan Baru, reduced traffic to a crawl.
Motorists who travelled in the area were caught in a traffic jam for several hours as the roads were submerged in 0.67m of water.
A check with several shop owners in Relau revealed not much damage had occurred as the water subsided fairly fast after the rain stopped.
…
Local government, traffic management and flood mitigation committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the cause of the flooding was likely due to on-going river diversion works carried out by the developer at the Jalan Datuk Ismail Hashim and Jalan Paya Terubong intersection.
“Water from the river was not discharged effectively because of the diversion works, thus causing an overflow of water along the Relau area, right in front of the primary school,” said Chow.
He said the area was flooded up to one to two feet and several shops were affected.

Report: School incurs wrath of Muslim groups, refuses to abort Halloween activities http://dlvr.it/7Kj1TS
PETALING JAYA: Muslim groups in Malaysia have hit out at an international school in Negri Sembilan for promoting and organising Halloween activities that will take place on Oct 31, urging the Government to pull the plug on the event.
However, brushing aside calls to abort the event, the international school has said it will go ahead with its Halloween celebration, a Chinese-language newspaper reported on Sunday.
Ikatan Guru Muslim Malaysia (IGMM) deputy president Mohd Azizee Hassan said the celebration of Halloween is inappropriate as it clashes with Malaysian culture and traditions, according to a news portal.
Another news portal quoted Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman as saying that Halloween celebrations were intended to spread atheism.
“We notice that such events are held to test moral limits or religion, and they are usually done by groups which are not religion-based,” Abdullah Zaik was quoted as saying by the website.
