KUALA LUMPUR: Facebook has removed the page of infamous sex blogger Alvin Tan, just days after he allegedly insulted Muslims by showing a series of pictures of him using a page of the Quran as toilet paper.

Checks on his Facebook account reveal the message “Sorry, this page isn’t available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.”

Tan switched to his Twitter account @AlvinTanYOLO to further ‘express his thoughts’, at the same time promoting his debut porn video and retweeting posts by his supporters.

Alvin Tan sparks ire again with ‘R&B cover’ of Muslim call to prayer

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — Fugitive Alvin Tan is under the spotlight again, this time with a video on his official Facebook page lampooning the azan, or the Muslim call to prayer, with an “R&B cover”.

In the two-minute-and-50-second video, Tan appears topless with a pair of sunglasses on, and plays a keyboard while reciting the azan in full.

“My latest goal is to get all mosques in Malaysia to play my cover instead of having them old geezers hunched over the mics, straining their vocal chords and cracking their voices,” Tan said in the sarcastic status update that accompanied the video.

At the time of writing, the video has received over 100 likes and over 700 shares, nine hours after it was published.

Despite charges of insulting Muslims being dropped, Alvin Tan hurls insults at the government for prosecuting him in the first place.

KUALA LUMPUR: One would have thought sex blogger Alvin Tan would breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing that a charge for insulting Muslims has been dropped, but all he did was take out his anger at the Malaysian government by posting a string of insults replete with his trademark expletives.

Updating his Facebook status about one hour ago, Tan wrote, “Yeah, too late assholes. I dont’ even give a shit anymore. Life is good – hell, awesome – in America.

“If you guys were sincere, you shouldn’t have prosecuted us (Vivian Lee) in the first place.

Still bristling at his mounting legal fees, he wrote, “How magnanimous, dropping one charge out of three… after two years and more than RM100,000 in legal fees footed by me!”

Ali confirms ‘The Rakyat Post’s’ story

In a Facebook post today, Ali thanked Tan for his help.

“Thanks to my friend Alvin Tan. He advised me on what I was supposed to do.

“It is not easy to live abroad, Malaysia is our country and we are so proud of Malaysia, but the government treats us like rubbish, full of racism and inhumanity.”

Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee are facing criminal charges under Malaysia’s Sedition Act as well as the Film Censorship Act for their Facebook uploads, including a photo of themselves eating bak kut teh, with the caption Selamat berbuka puasa (Happy breaking fast).

Alvin and Ali, new breed of activists?

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26, 2014:

The news that Ali Abd Jalil fled the country to seek political asylum in Sweden, might not be the last.

Seeking for political asylum himself, former sex blogger Alvin Tan said more people would seek to leave the country in order to have a fighting chance to exact change in the country.

He said social media and the Internet had given people a different platform in which to fight for change.

“These days, you can spread the word from anywhere in the world. Many activists are simply bloggers who spread the word online or investigative journalists who push forth their cause which can be done from anywhere in the world,” he told The Rakyat Post.

Tan said on the other hand it would be a risk if an activist chose to remain in Malaysia.

“An activist who stays in the country will not be able to speak freely and that will breed self-censorship. Many bloggers in Malaysia have lost their voice following the sedition dragnet.

“Keeping yourself safe from harm is of paramount importance to your work. An activist who resides in Malaysia has nothing to gain, yet he has everything to lose.

Alvin strikes again, calls IGP ‘stupid’

In new Facebook posting, Alvin Tan taunts IGP and says he would likely never get caught by him.

PETALING JAYA: Controversial sex blogger Alvin Tan lashed out at authority once again, this time making the Inspector General of Police his lone target.

In his latest Facebook posting, Tan used the disrespectful term “bodoh” to address IGP Khalid Abu Bakar.

Writing, “Oi IGP bodoh,” Tan also threw a challenge to Khalid, taunting the IGP to come arrest him in Los Angeles.

Tan wrote, “Still waiting for the IGP to come and arrest me here in Hollywood, Los Angeles… Zzzzzzz.”

In typical arrogant Tan fashion, the sex blogger also accused the IGP of bragging that he would leave no stone unturned in tracking Tan down although in Tan’s opinion, no progress had been made.

UNFAZED by IGP’s ‘wormhole’ threat, Alvin fires back: He’s more keen to catch people for Sedition than fight crime

A fugitive sex blogger has locked horns with the police chief, criticising Khalid Abu Bakar for purportedly being more keen on launching a crackdown under the Sedition Act, as opposed to arresting criminals.

“If only the IGP is as passionate in fighting crime and corruption as he is in catching people for sedition,” posted Alvin Tan on his Facebook page today.

He was responding to Khalid, who yesterday vowed that the police would leave no stone unturned in locating Tan.

The inspector-general of police was livid with Tan’s earlier Facebook posting depicting doctored photos of various leaders, including the prime minister and his wife, with pig snouts.

Among those in the photos was Khalid himself.

Meanwhile, Utusan also quoted Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar as describing Tan as a “coward”.

“If he is brave, come back to Malaysia and say those things. No need to run to the US. He is a coward and only talks after running from Malaysia.

“Tell us upfront. We (Umno Youth) are willing to wait. Do not be a coward,” he emphasised.

Fugitive sex blogger Alvin Tan again under sedition scope

September 29, 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 ― Already deemed a fugitive for skipping town and violating his bail terms, Malaysian sex blogger Alvin Tan is now facing yet another probe under the Sedition Act back home ― this time for criticising the country’s leaders on Facebook.

According to Astro Awani, Deputy Federal CID chief Deputy Comm Datuk Amar Singh confirmed today that Tan is being investigated under the 1948 law for criticising, among others, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“Members of the public have lodged reports against Alvin Tan. Upon this, we initiated an investigation under the Sedition Act,” DCP Amar was quoted saying by the news portal.

Asked how the authorities plan to bring Tan, who is now believed to be in the United States, back to Malaysia to face his charges, DCP Amar said: “Let us complete the investigation first. Then, we will liaise with the Attorney General’s department to decide the next course of action.”

Tan, who is now seeking asylum in the US purportedly to escape Umno, recently took to Facebook to vent his frustrations against the government’s recent sedition crackdown on dissenters.

Sex blogger: Vivian ‘not surprised’ Alvin jumped bail

PETALING JAYA: Vivian Lee, the ex-girlfriend of sex blogger Alvin Tan is ‘not surprised’ that her former Alvivi partner has jumped bail and sought asylum in the United States, as he had suggested the idea before.

“He has suggested the idea of seeking political asylum briefly once.

“He didn’t discuss his plan with me further.

“He can pursue his dreams and resume his conquests in the US without any baggage,” said Lee in a Facebook message to The Star Online Monday.

She added that she was against the idea of absconding from their trial in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur.

“I don’t see the point of living a life on the run.

“We still have a full life ahead of us, and the life as a fugitive wouldn’t suit me.

“I was brought up by my parents to face and deal with any issue in front of us, and running away whenever there’s trouble isn’t a wise approach,” said the 25-year old Lee.

She said that the possibility of an unfavourable outcome of their ongoing trial might have prompted Tan to abscond, adding however that Tan seemed determined to fight the charges against them.

Explaining why he decided to break his silence even before his asylum claim was approved, Tan said keeping silent for his own benefit would have been “deeply unethical”.

He also asked, “But if people like me don’t speak up … who else is going to do it?” adding everyone in Malaysia was living in fear these days.

Perhaps the truth is that he needs to create more ‘evidence’ to support his appeal for political asylum in the USA?

1. He insults Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, Home Minister Zahid Hamidi, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar and Attorney-General (AG) Abdul Gani Patail.
2. Along with the insults, Tan posted a challenge to Umno that read, “So what are you going to do now?”

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry said Malaysian authorities could do very little to ensure the return of sex blogger Alvin Tan Jye Lee to Malaysia to face sedition charges if he manages to secure political asylum in the United States.

It was reported that Tan had applied for asylum-seeker status in May after he fled to the US.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar yesterday said Tan had to prove to the Americans that he was politically persecuted to enable him to get a political asylum status.

“If he fails, then he would have to face the American law against illegal immigrants.”

Wan Junaidi said if Tan secured the political asylum status in the US, there was very little Malaysian authorities could do.

“To extradite him back to the country, we must go through the legal process and what is considered as an offence in Malaysia must also be an offence in the US for the extradition request to work.

“If it is not an offence in the US, the request for his extradition would fail as the court would not allow it.”

Sex blogger fears Umno, seeks asylum in US

Sex blogger Alvin Tan is purportedly seeking political asylum in the United States because he fears Umno, according to a news report.

Channel News Asia quoted the 26-year-old former National University Singapore (NUS) as saying that he was seeking “political refuge from Umno’s political tyranny.”

“I’m busy starting a new life here (in the US), apart from awaiting my final asylum hearing,” he added.

Tan first applied for asylum-seeker status in May and is confident that his request would be accepted.

Failing which, the blogger said he would strengthen his case by publishing more “seditious material” online.

“The Department of State produced a Human Rights Report on Malaysia in 2013 which explicitly cites my case as a repression of internet speech rights,” he said.

Tan and his partner, Vivian, 25, have been charged under the Sedition Act and the Film Censorship Act.

Interpol is looking for controversial sex blogger Alvin Tan Jye Yee to face trial in Malaysia following his failure to return and surrender his passport to the court, his lawyer said.

Chong Joo Tian said Tan and his partner Vivian Lee May Ling went to Singapore to shoot a documentary last May but the lawyer was unsure if Tan was still in the island republic.

“The assistance of Interpol has been enlisted to locate and bring Tan back to face charges with Lee,” he told The Malaysian Insider. The Sessions Court had issued an arrest warrant for Tan.

Chong said it was up to the prosecution to decide whether to try only Lee in the absence of Tan.
