HK Singer G.E.M.’s Topless Photo Rumors Proven Hoax by Fans
Hong Kong singer G.E.M. Tang was in turmoil as alleged nude photos of a woman that resembled the artist was leaked online upsetting her and her fans alike just a day after Sire Ma’s scandalous video surfaced.
The photos showed that of a topless woman posing in compromising positions. The woman in the photo was purported to be the 22-year old singer, but was later deemed as a hoax by her fans.
To prove this, the singer’s fans analyzed the photo and said that the woman wasn’t G.E.M. Tang at all, their ground being the fact that the woman in photo was biting down on her teeth proportionally – something that the singer couldn’t do due to jaw imperfection.
G.E.M. Tang was said to have suffered from jawbone atrophy which makes it impossible for her lower teeth to bite on her lips. As opposed to this, the woman in the picture was capable of doing so.

Compiled by OH ING YEEN, HANIS ZAINAL and R. ARAVINTHAN
SINGER G.E.M. (pic) is the only Chinese to be included in this year’s BBC 100 Women list of inspiring and influential women from around the world.
The Shanghai-born, Hong Kong-bred singer-songwriter, whose real name is Gloria Tang Tsz-Kei, was described by BBC as “a top-selling female musician who used her influence to support charities and organisations dedicated to music, education and poverty.”
China Press noted that G.E.M., 27, was the first Asian artiste to perform at The Breakthrough Prize awards which recognise scientific advances, held in California on Nov 4. Tang performed in Malaysia last year during her Queen Of Hearts World Tour. She is also the 30-Hour Famine Ambassador Year 2018 for World Vision Malay-sia.

American comic book legend Stan Lee passed away on Monday at the age of 95 after a lifetime of dreaming up Spider-man, X-Men, the Hulk, and thousands of other Marvel super heroes, but his last superhero – unveiled not long before his death – was a Chinese female character.
Last month Lee introduced fans to a new superhero inspired by Chinese pop singer G.E.M. The character, called Jewel, is a world-touring pop star by day and a superhero in disguise by night. In the storyline, she developed superpowers after a mysterious incident involving her grandmother and a charm bracelet.
Singer-songwriter Gloria Tang Tsz-kei, who goes by her stage name G.E.M., has millions of fans across China and is sometimes referred to as “China’s Taylor Swift.”
Lee’s studio said on microblogging site Weibo that the Marvel creator had always wanted to create a Chinese superhero, and his encounter with G. E. M in Hong Kong last December became a source of inspiration. The studio has yet to reveal further details on Jewel and her superpowers.
“Never had I thought I would become a superhero one day! Super excited!” G. E. M said on Instagram at the time.
G.E.M.’s new character is not the first attempt by American comic publishers to woo a Chinese audience with local superheroes. In May Chinese gaming giant NetEase released two sets of comics on its online comic platform, featuring a group of original Chinese superheroes co-created with Marvel. Among them was a mysterious female character called Cyclone, the guardian of an eastern financial hub who can feel and control air currents.

During Stan Lee’s Comic Universe in Shanghai, POW! Entertainment (co-founded by the legendary comic-book writer himself) unveiled a new original female superhero named Jewel. The Marvel character was inspired by the Chinese singer herself.

The heroine’s name – Jewel – is based on the singer’s stage name G.E.M. The 27-year-old pop star recently took to Instagram to express her excitement of having a superhero in her image. “Super excited! What do you think of my superpowers?” she asked. Although not much is known about Jewel’s abilities, many fans suggests that it could be her powerhouse vocals.
Stan Lee and G.E.M. bonded right away upon meeting for the first time in Hong Kong in December 2017. When Stan revealed that he was working on a Chinese superhero, many suspected that the icon was already making plans with the singer.

2016-Present: G-Force and Queen of Hearts Tour
In 2016, she appeared on the list of Forbes 30 Under 30 (Music)[3], being the only Asian musician on the list. In the same year, she was asked to voice a lead role in the animated film Charming, alongside Demi Lovato, Ashley Tisdale, and Avril Lavigne.[16][17] She also performed at Heroes of Remix(Chinese: 盖世英雄) that same year, singing EDM versions of songs such as Like You 《喜欢你》 and The Brightest Star In The Night Sky 《夜空中最亮的星》, among others. In September 2016, she released her photobook 25 Looks and an EP, which includes four remix songs. In November 2016, she earned an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Mainland China & Hong Kong Act. On December 29, 2016, G.E.M. released the Chinese theme song for the science fiction film Passengers (2016 film) titled “Light Years Away” 《光年之外》, which she also performed on several occasions. Lyrically, similar to the plot of the film itself, it speaks of a doomed love. The music video has over 120 million views on YouTube and 1-billion on KuGou (Chinese: 酷狗音乐) as of May, 2018.
In May 2017, G.E.M released her first documentary G-Force, which was directed by Nick Wickham. In April 2017, she embarked on her Queen of Hearts World Tour. On 21 October 2017, Namewee (Chinese: 黃明志; pinyin: Huáng Míng Zhì), a Malaysian Chinese hip hop recording artist and composer, published a video featuring her in a cover of his song Stranger In The North 《漂向北方》(KTV Version), which had received widespread popularity, where she sings the chorus which was originally performed by Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter Leehom Wang. As of May 2018, the video has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube. At the 13th Annual KKBOX Music Awards on 21 January 2018, G.E.M. and Namewee together sang “Stranger In The North”《漂向北方》immediately after she sang “Goodbye”《再見》and “Light Years Away”《光年之外》for her 2018 KKBOX Artist Of The Year award-winner performance.[18]

HK pop star G.E.M.: If I can’t be honest, why should people listen to my music?
Shanghai-born singer G.E.M. does not think it is premature for her to release a documentary about her life when she is just 25 years old.
She has no lack of material for the film – in the last three years alone, she has gone from selling out concerts regionally after competing on China reality contest show I Am A Singer (2014) to becoming one of the most hated celebrities on the Internet.
“I feel like I’ve been preparing for this documentary from the moment I was born. My parents would film me as a record of my growing years,” she says with a laugh over the phone from Hong Kong, where she is based.
“The documentary is not to show that I have arrived in my career. Rather, I want to inspire others to pursue their dreams like how I did.”
.
Tang says: “It is not about me being brave. If a singer-songwriter can’t be honest and share her experience, where is the value of her music? Why should people listen to my music?”
In a trailer for the documentary, she is seen addressing the backlash surrounding the follow-up season of I Am A Singer (2015). She even wondered if she deserved all the hostility directed at her.
Netizens lambasted her for being an ingrate after the show’s director Hong Tao complained online that G.E.M. refused to compromise and changed her song selection. This reportedly led to her replacement in the show by Taiwanese singer A-Lin.
She says: “I was really upset, to the point where I was about to lose it. I let myself wallow in my pain. Telling yourself to snap out of it would only add more pressure. Bad feelings are like passing rain.”
Those stressful times have made her realise that external factors are out of her control and that she can control only her own mindset.

G.E.M. Tang voted most-hated celebrity second year in a row
.
FEMALE pop singer G.E.M. Tang has been voted as the most-hated celebrity for the second year in a row by netizens in Hong Kong.
Sin Chew Daily reported that the 25-year-old artiste had been criticised for her “terrible fashion taste”.
They also felt that it was premature of her to shoot a biographical film at her age.
In an online poll conducted by Hong Kong-based King Jer Entertainment, Tang received 15,297 votes. Female singer and TVB actress Jinny Ng, 24, who became pregnant before marriage, was placed second with 9,640 votes.
In third place for a second year in a row is comedy director Wong Jing, well-known for directing movies such as the God of Gamblers and From Vegas to Macau which starred Chow Yun-Fat.
Wong received 9,177 votes from netizens who were critical of his films.
Others placed in the top 10 included actress and former Miss Hong Kong Grace Chan for her poor acting skills and TVB actor Wong Cho-lam and singer William Choo for their pro-mainland China sentiments.

HK pop star G.E.M speaks about on her line-dancing auntie fans, plans for active ageing http://bit.ly/1S5LYu0

…
INGAPORE — With her popularity exploding in the past year, young Hong Kong pop star G.E.M. has legions of fans all over the world. But the ones who amuse her the most are her “auntie” fans. After all, we must assume anyone would be thrilled to see a posse of aunties line-dancing to their songs.
When she started out at the age of 16, she said the people she was influencing were young fans or students. “And I’ve always hoped to be able to give them positive energy through my music. Now that I’ve grown up a bit, my fan base has widened; 40- and 50-year-old aunties listen to my music, too,” she said.
Known as the “Chinese Taylor Swift” for her catchy tunes and penchant for writing breakup songs, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter shot to fame after her stint in last year’s Chinese reality singing competition show I Am A Singer, which pits established singers against each other. G.E.M. stands for Get Everybody Moving; her real name is Gloria Tang.
So, are her auntie fans especially rabid? “They are very enthusiastic,” she said with a chuckle. “Sometimes I run into them — at the airport, for example — and they go, ‘Oh, are you G.E.M.? Come take a photo with me! I sing your songs every time I go to the KTV’. I’ve also seen them line-dancing in a public square to my cover of I Like You.”
She finds their demonstrativeness “cute”, she said, laughing. “Young people can be quite shy, actually. When you’re young, you have a bit of ‘idol baggage’ (an expression referring to the excessive self-consciousness usually displayed by celebrities). Idol baggage isn’t just limited to idols, you know — everyone has it. But aunties — they really don’t care!”

By Heidi Hsia | From Cinema Online Exclusively for Yahoo Newsroom – Mon, Dec 29, 2014 2:05 PM SGT

29 Dec – Hong Kong singer GEM Tang recently clarified that she was clueless of the fact that her delayed arrival at the Metro Radio Music Hits Awards and its post-party has caused inconvenience to the production crew as well as other artistes.
According to Sina News, due to the absence of other popular stars, Joey Yung and Eason Chan, the Metro Radio Music Hits Awards prolonged the ceremony until midnight to await GEM’s arrival from her performance in Macau so that she could personally receive her four awards – resulting in the show ending at 12.30 am instead of the original schedule. The organisers also delayed the post-party and waited for GEM to take photos and give out Christmas cookies to her fans. Members of the media had to wait nearly an hour for the singer before the celebration began. When asked about the delay, GEM apologised and said, “I accepted the Macau show much earlier, but I tried my best to rush back to Hong Kong. GEM Tang clarifies driving photo controversy
By Heidi Hsia | From Cinema Online Exclusively for Yahoo Newsroom – Mon, Sep 22, 2014
22 Sep – Hong Kong Cantopop star GEM Tang admitted that she still does not understand the fuss over previous photos she took inside her car.
Earlier, the singer was blasted twice online for posting a photo of herself on the wheel; once during a red light stop, and the second, which was taken a couple of weeks later, of herself in the driver’s seat. She was criticised for being reckless and endangering others for using a phone while driving. However, as reported on Mingpao News, while speaking to the media at a music gala on 21 September, GEM admitted that she still does not understand all the commotion triggered from the photos. “What is the problem? I had my seat belt buckled on and the car was not moving,” she said. GEM also stressed that she had even asked permission from her driving instructor before taking the picture. In regard to a second photo she took recently, GEM stressed that she has parked her car before doing so. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/gem-tang-clarifies-driving-photo-controversy-063700101.html —

‘I AM INNOCENT’ – topless pics of fast-rising HK singer appear online
It has been a steamy week for Hong Kong entertainment. One day after Sire Ma’s (馬賽) lingerie video was leaked online, a series of sexy photos featuring a young woman who resembles G.E.M. (鄧紫棋) surfaced on the web. The woman in the pictures had flirtatious eyes and was crouching in a compromising position. She appeared to be topless. Fortunately for G.E.M., her fans quickly caught onto the photos and were able to prove that the woman in the scandalous photos was not the 22-year-old star. Although the woman seems to resemble G.E.M. at first glance, sharp-eyed fans pointed out that the woman and G.E.M. have different jawlines. G.E.M. was born with an uneven jaw, with the left side of her jawbone being slightly smaller than her right. Therefore, G.E.M. is unable to bite down on her teeth in the same manner as those with even jaws. However, the woman in the photos was biting down on her teeth perfectly.
Some fans claimed that the scandalous rumors were started by fans of popular Korean-Chinese boy band EXO and Chinese footballer Li Yi (李毅). Because there is an intense fan war online between these stars, some of the fans decided to upload fake photos of G.E.M. to disperse attention. Questionable photos of Li Xiaolu (李小璐), Pakho Chau (周柏豪), and King Kong (金剛), and other fake nude photos were also circulated online. In addition to this scandal, there are also rumors of G.E.M. cohabiting with Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun (金秀賢), as well as being the third party in Zhang Jie’s (張杰) marriage.
