Cops hunting for instigator of Keningau street fight
KOTA KINABALU: Police are hunting for a man they believe is the main instigator behind a street fight in Sabah’s interior Keningau town.
Keningau district deputy police chief Assistant Supt Awang Damit said police were also looking for several others involved in the brawl that left three people injured.
“We believe they have gone into hiding,” he said, adding that the fight was captured on video.

Video of street fight at Keningau fish market goes viral
A man with a fish skimmer chasing a group of men in the video.
KOTA KINABALU: A video of a street fight allegedly between locals and foreigners in Sabah’s interior Keningau town is causing a stir.
The 23-second video, believed to have been filmed close to the town’s fish market on Sunday, shows a group of men being chased by a person armed with a fish skimmer.
The video also depicts another man lying face down on the ground and being kicked by another individual in the face.
The injured man is then seen lifting his head up for a moment before falling back down to the ground.

Keningau district deputy police chief Assist Supt Awang Amit said the fight was sparked when the suspect allegedly got angry with four friends having a drink outside a karaoke centre near the fish market at about 3pm on Sunday.
“Initial reports suggest that the suspect got angry with the group when he saw them with the girls (from the karaoke centre) and hit one of them outside the place,” he said.
The four then chased the man only to encounter a group of armed men waiting near the market not far away, he added.
It is believed that the four men then attempted to flee but were attacked.
