Terengganu Crisis: State Pas calls for dissolution of state assembly

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu PAS has called for a dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly to give an opportunity to the people to choose a new government in the state.

State PAS commissioner Satiful Bahri Mamat said a new election in the state was necessary as the Barisan Nasional (BN) had only 14 State Assembly seats, PAS (14), PKR (1) and Independent (3) currently.

“We propose that newly appointed Menteri Besar (Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman), who no longer commands the majority to rule, dissolves the State Legislative Assembly as this is more gentlemanly,” he told reporters at a media conference, here today.

Asked about PAS’s confidence in winning the state election if the State Assembly was dissolved, Satiful said PAS was confident of winning the people’s vote based on political developments in the country which was more favourable to the Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Earlier today, former Terengganu Menteri Besar and Kijal State Assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, Ajil Assemblyman Ghazali Taib and Bukit Besi Assemblyman Roslee Daud declared that they were leaving Umno and becoming Independent assemblymen.

DUN Terengganu. BN 15, PR 15, Bebas 2.

Macam mana kalau PR menerima Ahmad Said dan Ghazali Taib, kemudiannya menubuhkan kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat?

Apakah kerajaan baru PR ini halal, manakala kerajaan BN di Perak dulu haram?

Terengganu Crisis: EC monitoring political developments

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) is monitoring the political developments in Terengganu and preparing for any eventuality of a state elections, said chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof.
“The EC has to be ready from right now because there will only be 60 days to conduct the state elections if the state legislative assembly is dissolved,” he told Bernama.
Abdul Aziz said elections in a state as large as Terengganu, with 32 seats, would incur a huge cost.
Referring to the 32 seats, he said all political parties should support the EC’s effort for a redelineation of electoral boundaries to have an odd number of seats instead of an even number.
