DATUK SUHAIMI IBRAHIM
Datuk Suhaimi Ibrahim, the former political secretary to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, was detained for investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Suhaimi, the former state assemblyman of Benta in Pahang, was detained on Friday and remanded for four days during which he was questioned over the alleged misappropriation of 1AZAM funds. He was released on Tuesday.

WHAT IS 1AZAM?
OBJECTIVES
1AZAM provide income generating opportunities to low-income people. Expected earnings between RM760 to RM2, 300 a month.
PURPOSE PROJECT
1AZAM project was introduced to provide employment to the people of Malaysia and hardcore poor, increase income to exceed the limits specified poverty line of RM760 per month for poor and below RM2300 per month for low-income earners.

Provide opportunities for low-income people to generate income. Economic empowerment of low-income people. Encourage low-income people to be independent.
Approach to Implementation
1AZAM program was conducted throughout the country in stages. The pilot program was initiated in the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) or Iskandar Malaysia, Johor, at the end of January 2010. The initiative will be forwarded to other states through cooperation with economic corridor areas north, east, Sabah and Sarawak, which was launched by the previous government of the formation of the National Key Result Areas or known as the National Key Results Area (NKRA). Overall, the initiative will focus 1AZAM open job opportunities to Malaysians through the relocation of jobs filled by foreign workers. The proposal for the government to introduce NKRA labs Minimum Wages to various industries and sectors of employment offered to the Malaysian workforce, the job market will see Malaysian workers earning at least RM760 per month for qualified workers and semi-skilled low.

Shahrizat’s ex-political secretary says has nothing to hide, given MACC everything
Suhaimi: I have given MACC everything. Datuk Suhaimi Ibrahim, the former political secretary to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, came out today to confirm that he was the one who was detained for investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
In a hastily called press conference at the Putrajaya Lake Club this evening, Suhaimi said he was investigated for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for the poor under the 1AZAM programme.
He said at least seven other ministry officials were called in.
“I have nothing to hide. Yes, I was arrested but the information which was published in blogs and online portals was not entirely true,” he said.

Datuk Suhaimi denies luxury cars seized by MACC belong to him
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Suhaimi Ibrahim, the former political secretary to a former cabinet minister, today denied that a number of luxury cars reportedly seized by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) belonged to him.
Suhaimi said he was not the only one called by the MACC to facilitate the investigation on a government project as several other individuals were also called for questioning.

A former political secretary to a prominent Umno politician was arrested for questioning on Friday over alleged misappropriation of government funds through 1Azam (Akhiri Zaman Miskin) programme.
The arrest was confirmed by a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) official, who also revealed that the detainee was a former Umno state assemblyperson and a former student movement leader.
“MACC confirms the arrest of the individual for the purpose of facilitating investigations. He was released this morning after having his statements recorded,” said the official, who declined to be named.

PETALING JAYA: A former minister’s political secretary is being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds from the 1Azam welfare programme for the poor.
Sources said the 54-year-old Datuk was detained on Friday at about 5pm in Putrajaya, and taken to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters for questioning.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Mustafar Ali confirmed the arrest and investigations related to 1Azam which is under the Woman, Family and Community Develop-ment Ministry.
“The man was released around 10am today (yesterday) but investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
Mustafar declined to give details, saying his officers were still probing the case.
