A workshop owner has blamed his workers for spilling oil into a river which caused a water disruption affecting more than a million people in the Klang Valley this past weekend..
The owner, identified only as Mok, claimed that his workers were negligent and irresponsible and that he had sacked four of his employees over the incident.
…
“I feel wronged as the blame has been placed entirely on my shoulders,” Mok told The Star, claiming that it was the first time such an incident had occurred in the 13 years he had been operating his business.
“Why would I deliberately pour the oil into the river when I could have sold it? I was shocked when I read the news that the spillage was the cause of the water disruption which affected millions,” he said.

MPS: Diesel spill in river intentional
RAWANG: The oil spill which caused water shortage throughout major areas in Selangor was found to be intentional, said the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) today.
The owner of the factory which discarded an estimated two tanks of oil into Sungai Gong directly adjacent to the entrance, was found to be a former rubbish contractor for the MPS.
President Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain expressed his disappointment.
“This is really sad. Based on my officers who had done a thorough check, it was evident that the two oil tanks here were used to dump the oil in the river.

Selangor state exco member Elizabeth Wong has lashed out at water concessionaire Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd for “creating panic among the public” over the diesel spillage at Sungai Selangor which resulted in massive water supply disruptions in the Klang Valley.
