Wee’s “spy in the sky” just wedding photographers?

In a twist to the charge from the MCA Youth chief that a low-flying drone was sent over his house to spy on him, two men have surrendered to the police, claiming to be wedding photographers from Johor who merely wanted to test the device.
“I was informed that the police have the men in custody but I cannot digest the explanation from police that the men had merely wanted to test the hexacopter,” said the MCA youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong.
…
“If they had wanted to test it, why my home and my neighbourhood? I cannot accept the explanation,” Wee told The Malaysian Insider.

Two men who operated the hexacopter with a candid camera, which videographed the houses of MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong and his neighbour in Bukit Kiara in Kuala Lumpur recently, surrendered themselves to the police yesterday.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief Ku Chin Wah said the pair were the men who appeared in one of the video recordings, showing them adjusting the candid camera
Cheras OCPD Mohan Singh was also quoted by the Chinese daily as saying that the two were being detained to facilitate investigation.

Wee believes spy-cam drone linked to MCA politics
The hexacopter spy camera found snooping over his Kuala Lumpur residence has everything to do with “party politics”, MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) said today.
The MCA is set to hold it leadership elections on December 21 and Wee is widely regarded as a front-runner in the contest for the deputy president’s post. Its poor performance in the general election has led to calls for a leadership change.
“I don’t want to speculate on who is behind this but I have reason to believe it is in relation to the party election. This is a smear campaign,” Wee told The Malaysian Insider in Kuala Lumpur today.

Based on Internet research done by Wee, the hexacopter is worth US$399 (RM1,309). It is commonly used by Central Intelligence Agency of the United States to track the movements of terrorists.

A hexacopter with a candid camera secretly videographed the house of MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong and his neighbour in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, recently.
Revealing video footage from the camera at a press conference today, Wee said the vehicle was found by one of his neighbours, a 14-year-old boy, on the rooftop balcony of his house on Aug 8.
After watching the video footage recorded by the camera with his neighbours last night, Wee discovered that the videographing was carried out by two men.
The two men were remote-controlling the hexacopter from a open-door basketball court to record the video footage of the houses of Wee and his neighbour.
However, the hexacopter hit a lightning rod of one of the houses and fell onto the rooftop. It was discovered three days later.
…
“One of the two involved is believed to be from China. He speaks with a heavy Chinese accent in the video.
…
Although Wee is not certain about the purpose of the duo in recording the footage of his and his neighbour’s houses, he believes that it is related to the coming MCA party election.
“Furthermore, there are rumours, which are widely spread on Facebook, saying that my house is worth RM600 million and pictures of my house are also provided.
“So, I have the grounds to believe that this expensive professional flying vehicle with the motive of secretly video shooting my house is linked to malicious political purposes,” Wee said.

The Hexacopter is a multirotor aerial vehicle. It has 6 rotors and if it is battery powered, that makes it a lot quieter than a petrol helicopter. It is extremely stable in flight and has a few fail safe features, for example, if it loses the signal from the transmitter, it will automatically return to its takeoff point and automatically land.

Hahaha .. Just saw it on tv too.. that is why American states are banning Multirotors, their politicians are afraid of these too. The Multirotor can be bought easily in KL and many local flyers can fly it too no need for CIA. The camera is a GoPro action camera not a CANDID CAMERA. Where do you get your facts from?
Afraid from his shadow.. 🙂
So cheap lah hexa only 399usd.. i also want it..
