GP: Stop spreading rumours on Sulu invasion
Kota Baru: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has called on all quarters to stop spreading rumours of a possible second wave of Sulu militant attack on Sabah, saying it was untrue.
He said such rumours should not be spread, especially when the Muslims in the country were making preparations to celebrate Aidilfitri.
“When a rumour like this is widely spread, it will cause anxiety among the people, especially in Sabah. Hari Raya is just around the corner, so why go troubling the people, making them worry about something that is not true,” he told reporters when met at the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, here, Wednesday.
Khalid was visiting traffic policeman Insp Farid Hasni Mamat, 33, whose leg was severed, following an accident in Kuala Besut, Terengganu, last Wednesday. Also present was Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman.
Khalid said the police and other security forces had sufficient strength to tackle any possible foreign intrusion or threat.
“Let them come if they dare. We will know if there’s an attempt made by the enemy to enter this country.
We have sufficient strength…we have the police, armed forces…guarding the sea, air and land.
Don’t worry.
“The establishment of the Sabah East Coast Special Security Area will also ensure safety in the east coast of Sabah,” he added. – Bernama
