A coalition of Malay Muslim NGOs has hit out at PAS Youth for condemning the abduction and assault of Ng Mun Tatt, who was accused of insulting Islam by his kidnappers.
“Before PAS Youth barks senselessly to exploit the issue to gain popularity, we hope PAS first conduct proper research.
“Ng (right) had only made a denial (that he insulted Islam) but has not presented any evidence and yet PAS Youth has worshipped this Chinese youth,” it said in a statement today.
The coalition dubbed ‘Gabungan NGO Islam-Melayu’ was referring to PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil’s statement condemning the kidnappers for using religion to justify their criminal act.
Khairul Faizi had yesterday told Harakahdaily that the kidnappers, who had also assaulted Ng, were the ones who had insulted Islam.
However, the coalition rubbished PAS’ defence of Islam, accusing it of being in cahoots with “racist” DAP.

Attack on youth is an insult to Islam, say Pas Youth
The actions of a group of youth to use Islam as an excuse to assault Ng Mun Tatt has actually desecrated and insulted the religion, said Pas Youth.
Its secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad said the abduction and assault of Ng in Shah Alam recently was unacceptable in society.
Ng held a press conference following the incident, denying that he had insulted Islam, clarifying that his abductors had scrawled words on his body to deter the public from helping him.
“What is regrettable is that the perpetrators had used the issue of religion to make their criminal act of targeting non-Muslims seem legal,” Khairul was quoted by Harakahdaily as saying.
“The criminals have not made Islam proud of their actions. In fact, it is the opposite as they have sacrificed the pride and dignity of the religion.

My abduction not connected to sex bloggers, says youth

KLANG: An unemployed youth reportedly abducted in retaliation for an insensitive Facebook posting by controversial sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee has denied that his predicament was connected to religious comments made by the duo.
Instead, Ng Mun Tatt said his abductors had kidnapped him for the sole reason of extorting money from his family.
Ng, who claimed to have just returned to Shah Alam from Johor Bahru about two months ago, said his abductors had not mentioned a word about him insulting the religion, nor had he made any such posting.
“I do have a Facebook account but the only post I made was about my haircut,” Ng said at a press conference here Wednesday, adding that he was not very well versed in the English or Malay language.
Ng told reporters he did not know who his abductors were, adding that he did not even know where he was taken during his five-hour ordeal as he was blindfolded.
“It was not about any (Facebook) posting. They (kidnappers) only wanted money and purposely wrote Saya Hina Agama Islam (I insulted Islam) on my body because they did not want me to escape when I was in their custody, saying that I would be beaten up by any Muslim if I planned to get away,” he said.

A source, meanwhile, said the four suspects who were arrested a few hours after the incident have been remanded for a week.

Pemuda yang diculik sekumpulan lelaki di Shah Alam kemudiannya diserang dan ditulis perkataan `saya hina Islam’ di badannya, berkata kesnya itu tidak ada kena mengena dengan isu semasa membabitkan kontroversi gambar blogger seks menghina Ramadan.Ng Mun Tatt, 21, berkata beliau diculik kerana wang dan perkataan `Saya hina Islam’ itu adalah helah penyerangnya supaya beliau akan dipukul oleh orang awam jika cuba melarikan diri daripada mereka.Ng berkata, beliau terkejut bagaimana gambarnya yang dirakamkan di balai polis boleh lepas ke tangan orang lain dan disiarkan di laman sosial Facebook, sebelum keterangannya diambil oleh polis.”Saya lebih terkejut apabila polis memberitahu saya bahawa kes yang berlaku kepada saya ini tercetus daripada kes blogger seks itu,” katanya di sidang akhbar di Klang, hari ini.
“Saya tidak tahu apa-apa mengenai mereka, atau menyinggung sesiapa baru-baru ini,” katanya.
Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, semalam, memberitahu pemberita di Bukit Aman bahawa kes Ng mungkin tercetus akibat kontroversi pasangan lucah itu.
Bercakap di sidang akhbar itu, Ng berkata, pengalaman pahitnya bermula apabila beliau sedang minum bersama teman wanitanya, Rachel Leong, 16, dan seorang lagi rakan di Seksyen 25, Shah Alam, kira-kira jam 4.30 petang pada Isnin.
“Dua lelaki menghampiri saya. Seorang berbisik di telinga saya bertanya adakah saya `Ah Kiong’, sementara seorang lagi memberitahu rakan dan teman wanita saya supaya senyap di kerusi masing-masing.
“Tanpa menunggu jawapan saya, lelaki itu menarik kemeja T saya dan mengheret saya ke sebuah kereta yang sedang menunggu,” katanya.
Katanya, ada empat lelaki dalam kereta Proton Saga berwarna kelabu itu. Ng mendakwa dia dipukul, ditutup mata dan dibawa ke sebuah pangsapuri.
“Saya tidak tahu saya dibawa ke mana. Mereka mengambil kad ATM saya dan meminta number PIN,” katanya dan menambah bahawa mereka terus memukulnya hingga tidak dapat mengingati number PIN itu.
“Mereka juga menghubungi abang ipar saya meminta RM5,000 untuk pembebasan saya,” katanya.
Ng berkata, beliau kemudian dibawa ke sebuah estet sebelum dibogelkan dan mereka menulis perkataan di tubuhnya serta memaksanya menghidu gam.
“Lelaki itu beritahu saya mereka tulis perkataan itu di badan saya saya supaya orang awam akan pukul saya jika cuba hendak melarikan diri,” katanya.
“Saya khayal disebabkan hidu gam, tetapi tidak beberapa lama kemudian saya tersedar apabila mendengar bunyi bising. Saya menanggalkan kain penutup mata dan nampak tujuh lelaki yang sedang khayal. Hari juga sudah terang jadi saya melarikan diri.
“Saya mendapati saya berada di lebuh raya DUKE dan ada penunggang motosikal membantu saya menghubungi polis.
“Saya hanya mahu menjelaskan keadaan bahawa kes saya tidak ada kena mengena dengan blogger seks itu seperti yang dilaporkan media hari ini,” katanya.
Katanya, beliau tidak pernah mendengar nama pasangan itu sehingga semalam dan menambah dalam tempoh dua bulan terakhir ini, beliau bekerja di kedai telefon bimbit di Johor sebelum kembali ke Shah Alam untuk menetap bersama kakaknya.
Ng, yang kini tidak bekerja kelihatan masih berada dalam keadaan terkejut dan lemah ketika bercakap dengan pemberita awal hari ini.
Mengenai gambarnya yang kini tersebar, beliau berkata:”Saya tidak tahu siapa mengambilnya, tetapi saya berada di balai polis ketika itu,” katanya dan menambah tidak tahu di balai mana.
“Polis belum mengambil kenyataan saya lagi tetapi saya diberitahu untuk hadir ke balai polis Seksyen 9 untuk kawad cam,” katanya.
Sementara itu, abang ipar Ng, Mak Wui Weng, 28, berkata penculik terbabit menghubunginya kira-kira jam 5 pagi dan meminta beliau memasukkan wang RM5,000.
Mak berkata, beliau hanya memasukkan wang sebanyak RM3,000 dan memberitahu mereka perlu membawa Ng bertemunya, jika mahu baki wang berkenaan.

RACE-HATE CRIME: IGP believes abduction linked to Alvin-Vivian case, 4 suspects arrested

Four suspects were arrested yesterday by the police in relation to an abduction case involving a 24 year old cybercafe worker. The police are on the lookout for their accomplices.

“We believe that the victim may have made a comment that hurt the feelings of a particular race or religious group. In light of the current heated environment caused by the controversial Facebook posting by bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee, the victim faced an unfortunate consequence” the Inspector-General of Police,” Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.
“We also believe this is linked to Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee’s postings, in which the victim had responded to with comments. It aroused anger and the group carried out the attack on the victim. We are on the lookout for the rest of the attackers,” he added.
Shah Alam OCPD, Assistant Comissioner Zahedi Ayob then informed the press that the police took swift action soon after a report was lodged by the victim’s family and arrested four suspects in Shah Alam, Ampang and Petaling Jaya early today.
It is learnt that the four suspects have been remanded for seven days and are currently being held under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961. The police are seeking another four other men to help in the investigations.

Police have arrested four men to assist in investigations in relation to the abduction and assault of a man accused of having posted online insults against Islam.
Citing Shah Alam police district chief Zahedi Ayob, Utusan Online reported that the suspects were nabbed in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur; Kampung Medan, Petaling Jaya and Ampang, Selangor this morning.
It reported that the abduction was believed to be related to the man’s alleged insults against Islam made on Facebook and Twitter.
According to the report, the man, a cybercafe attendant, was abducted by eight men in a Toyota Alphard at about 3am yesterday while dining with his girlfriend at a restaurant in Taman Seri Muda.
The man was reportedly taken to a foresty area, stripped naked and had his body scrawled with graffiti, before he was left without his clothes near the Setiawangsa exit of the Damansara Ulu Kelang Expressway.
“The victim was lucky as a police officer on a motorcycle who was passing by the area found him at about 12.30pm, and made a report on the matter at the Wangsa Maju police station,” Utusan cited sources as saying.

The report also cited sources as claiming that the group had removed the man’s valuables, including a gold chain, wallet and a mobile phone, and gave them to his girlfriend.
Photos circulating on mostly pro-BN blogs show a man in underpants, with the words ‘Saya Hina Agama Islam‘ scrawled onto his torso using what looks like a black marker pen.
In another photo, the man, who has a black eye, is seated on a blue chair and is wearing a sarong.

Penjaga cybercafe, Ng Mun Tatt, 24, diculik di hadapan sebuah restoran di Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, oleh lapan lelaki dipercayai berbangsa Melayu dengan menaiki sebuah kereta jenis Toyota Alphard.
Sumber yang diterima TerengganuToday memberitahu, semasa kejadian, remaja berbangsa Cina itu sedang makan bersama teman wanitanya sekitar pukul tiga pagi.
Bagaimanapun, teman wanita mangsa tidak dilarikan dan diapa-apakan.
Barang berharga milik lelaki itu seperti beg duit, telefon bimbit dan rantai emas dikembalikan kepada teman wanita mangsa semasa mangsa dilarikan.
Kereta yang menggunakan nombor pendaftaran palsu itu melarikan mangsa ke kawasan hutan sebelum ditinggalkan di Lebuhraya Duke, berhampiran susur masuk ke Setiawangsa, dalam keadaan bogel.
Seluar, baju dan pakaian dalam dilarikan Toyota Alphard terbabit.
Mangsa mendakwa, badannya diconteng oleh suspek kerana perbuatan remaja Cina itu yang mengaku “MENGHINA ORANG MELAYU DAN ISLAM DI LAMAN SOSIAL SEPERTI FACEBOOK DAN TWITTER”
Mangsa juga mengaku telah mencampakkan bangkai babi di hadapan rumah dan surau orang Islam yang menjadi sasaran parti DAP untuk cetuskan ketegangan kaum dan agama.
Menurut sumber itu lagi, sehingga kini hanya satu laporan polis dibuat oleh orang awam yang menemui mangsa. -TT
