Not just MARAH all the time
We wept together and ranted at the crimes we saw, and consoled the victims and their families as Malaysians, irrespective of our own race and background.
MARAH (Malaysians Against Rape, Assault & snatch) starts a brand new year by closing our petition for safety against crime. We did not achieve our objective of getting 100k signatures in our six months of existence.
We have a total of 13,749 signatures and are now preparing our petition and memorandum of proposals which will be handed over to both the Selangor state and federal government and PDRM, PEMANDU and KDN (Home Ministry) representatives shortly.
Yes we have only been in existence for six short months, but it sure feels like a long time. We have had our share of ups and downs, our detractors and our white knights, our highs and our lows.

Malaysians Against Rape, Assault & snatcHMalaysia has been ranked by the Global Peace Index as the safest country in South East Asia. Crime has dropped by an impressive 39.7%, yet there are pockets of high incidence of crime, particularly against females.
The safety of a country’s citizen is our right. Our females shouldn’t have to mentally and physically prepare themselves in the event their car window gets smashed by a passing motorbike and their handbag snatched, or they get assaulted and robbed at a mall car park or even abducted and raped.
Join MARAH now to lobby for our safety campaign.

Casualties of BN cruelty: Did you know a RAPE occurs every 15 mins…
Written by Christopher Fernandez, Malaysia Chronicle
If social ills today within Malaysian society have started to grow rapidly it will be quite right to lay the blame on the authorities and the police as custodians of law and order for neglecting the welfare of the state.
Every sphere of social ill in this country has started to witness a marked increase though this fact is often downplayed by the authorities or distorted by the use of statistics.
………..
A rape occurs every 15 minutes in Malaysia
For example, while the police confess that incidences of rape cases are on the rise, the contention by the All Women’s Action Society Malaysia is that it is not only on the rise but that “a rape occurs every 15 minutes in Malaysia.”
………..
3 million are mentally disturbed
…… unofficial estimates by mental health experts put the number of mentally ill at around 10 per cent of the population which translates to close to 3 million Malaysians in need of some form of psychiatric or psychological care and counsel.
