The iconic Pulau Kapas ferry have sunk at the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal in Butterworth this morning, believed to be caused by a broken mooring rope under strong winds.

The PPC is currently working to refloat it, with firefighters managing potential oil spills.

The ferry which belongs to the Penang Port Commission was tied with a rope at the jetty for a long time.

Pulau Kapas is one of the four ferries which were decommissioned on December 31, 2020.
