Jonathan Laxton on Steve Kirsch's lie that Celine Dion was disabled by a known side effect of the COVID vaccine. https://t.co/Vp9kYAKzxy

This Substack really bothers me – as both a gay and Canadian physician because 1) it is not factual and 2) it's so hateful to come for one of my divas. However, it is very illustrative of a Kirsch post where he makes wild extrapolations based on abysmal data. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/QfF92YwbfH

It has never been directly related to vaccination, but Steve's first line of evidence is that it is in the list of AESIs in the Pfizer documents. pic.twitter.com/ajfsWcTSRP

In fact, I searched PubMed and could find no studies linking Stiff-Person syndrome to any vaccine. Reviewing the Brighton definitions – it is clear it is monitored as a theoretical risk. I also used the old term "Stiff Man Syndrome" and "Vaccination." pic.twitter.com/S0QYqxAHIA

Next, he does a bizarre dumpster dive into VAERS, where his calculations really fall apart. Arriving at a 99.6% chance Celine's SPS is from the vaccine (nope) pic.twitter.com/oVR9UkWHsu

There have been over 600 million doses of COVID vaccine in the US – giving a rate of 0.027 cases per million, far below the background rate of 1 per 1 million. pic.twitter.com/V2TTPnIliF

Even if you use the 8x URR and the US population that has received any dose (265.6 million), you get a rate of 0.5/1,000,000 – which is below the background rate of 1/1,000,000.

Such an event could be a tonic seizure or syncope (occasionally can be tonic, usually flaccid). 2) It is biologically implausible for an autoimmune disease to set on this quickly after an exposure. https://t.co/53IJ6HjBi4

Guillain-Barre, a known infection and rarely vaccine side effect, usually occurs 4-12 weeks after the infection or immunization. So this claim is just ridiculous.

This is literally what Kirsch does – finds an adverse event, dumpster dives into VAERs, does inappropriate calculations from a tiny sample and then inappropriately extrapolates it to the vaccinated population.

Christmas for kids at Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) https://t.co/txVbzdc2KD

Report from Kyiv. I am used to the war. But today I cried. 50 kids- orphans and refugees came to KSE. Our students organized presents for them. Everyone was happy, but then there was a missile alarm. Kids panicked. Some younger ones were resisting going to shelter because 1/ pic.twitter.com/Y91FyJx4Ip

Some said that our shelter is not at all like a shelter. It is warm, cozy, heated, just a normal room. They were so sweet. I melted and wanted to help them. I think they are going through hell. A human made hell. I hate the Russian state. You will all be in hell. 3/ pic.twitter.com/MyL5mrAyl5

to soldiers. I talked to our students and asked how much an average present costs. They said about $10. Some people buy something simple, just candies. Kids are loving it, they are melting from happiness. I came out of the building and hid to cry. I couldn’t help it. Why? 5/ pic.twitter.com/iB1V2NtG0X

I will try to have KSE and students organize another round. This time 500 kids. We will ask people to buy presents. And will donate from the KSE foundation what is missing. Thank you, people, for being human! 7/7 pic.twitter.com/ld3ZJO39KS
