I am 74.

FIRST BIRTH, PHYSICAL BIRTH

I was born in 1950. The Year of the Tiger. At night. A Hungry Night Tiger that threatened to devour my father’s wealth (little that it was) and the livelihood of his family and workers. By the time I was 2, I had been given away and taken back.

1950 was the year of my first birth, a physical birth. 

1951 was the year of redemption for me, courtesy of my maternal grandmother who bought me back. She paid my father enough for him to take me back from my adoptee parents as well as to revive his business.

SECOND BIRTH, SPIRITUAL BIRTH

In 1963, at 13, I was born again, a spiritual birth. I was converted at a revival meeting at a Baptist church.

I am a Christian, a practising Christian. Not so much a churchgoer but a believer, with many Christian friends.

CHRISTMAS 2024

Jesus Christ came at Christmas that we may have eternal life.

This Christmas is SPECIAL. I will live to see it. I have been given a new lease of life.

I SURVIVED 3 HEART ATTACKS AND COVID-19

In May, I had a heart attack, followed by a second several days later. In July, I had Covid-19 and a few days after that, a third heart attack. I survived.

The Cardiothoracic surgeon at a hospital said he would operate after a month. I had to be strong enough to be operated on.

August was spent recuperating, resting and eating and taking pills and sleeping and walking. I had to be strong enough for Coronary bypass surgery (CABG).

God is gracious and merciful. The Cardiothoracic surgeon was truly sent by God. The operation was a success and I am getting better.

Christians prayed. I wish to thank them.

Christians gave to a medical fund that helped pay the medical expenses.

It’s been amazing to learn how, unasked, Christian brothers and sisters, many of whom I have known since the 1970s, sent money. I had not even seen almost all of them for 30 years and more.

Their love, grounded on the love of God that sent the Son at Christmas, has helped keep me alive.

Christmas 2024 is, indeed, special. I am alive to celebrate it.
