UNFORTUNATELY, NOT.

in front of a most venerable assembly in Melaka.
Repeating ad nauseam (at least since 1989)
that “Melaka welcomes 2000 ships a day!”
An apocryphal quote, yet to be corrected.
To describe the greatness of Melaka Sultanate,
he presented a print (photo 2), with so many ships!
Showing the mosque, before the Portuguese destroyed it!
(the video is still available on You Tube, min. 15).
Nobody stood up in the learned assembly
to say: “Sorry Sir, I am afraid you are confused.
Your print is dated 1708, the ships are Dutch East Indiamen,
and your so-called mosque is St Paul Church.”
Will someone stand and be counted
to stop the rot before too late
in Malaysian universities?
