The Jana Wibawa initiative: Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan charged in court for corruption

The Jana Wibawa, or ‘Program Jana Ekonomi Pemerkasaan Kontraktor Bumiputera Berwibawa’, was introduced by Muhyiddin administration, ostensibly to expedite project execution to spur the nation’s economic recovery post Covid-19 pandemic.

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the government will postpone the RM5.7 billion worth of rural development projects under the Jana Wibawa scheme over suspected irregularities.

The MACC is expected to prosecute Bersatu Information Chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan tomorrow while the agency is investigating the party’s finances. MACC sources confirmed that the Tasek Gelugor MP has been arrested and will be charged in court tomorrow in connection with the Jana Wibawa initiative.

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to charge Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan tomorrow, says news reports.

An MACC source confirmed that the Tasek Gelugor MP has been arrested and will be charged in court tomorrow in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme.
