KUALA LUMPUR – The police have initiated an investigation into the “black flag” campaign under the Sedition Act 1948, among others.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan told Kosmo that the campaign is also investigated under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“So far, we have not called any individual to testify as the investigation is still new and the police are tracking down those involved in this campaign.”

The campaign started by Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat urges people today onwards to display black flags in front of their house, shops, roads, or other areas to voice their disappointment with the government.

It also called for the public to take pics of the flags and shared them on social media 3pm onwards with the hashtag #Lawan.

This comes after the Bendera Putih movement that started recently to encourage poverty-stricken folk in need of urgent help during the pandemic and lockdown to make their appeal known. – The Vibes, July 3, 2021
