New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang’s wife has slammed the New York Daily News for publishing a cartoon she described as a ‘racist disfiguration’ of her husband.
Evelyn Yang took to Twitter on Monday to attack the cartoon by artist Bill Bramhall, which depicts the Democratic candidate as an excited tourist exiting the Times Square subway stop, with a pair of memorabilia shop owners happily exclaiming: ‘The tourists are back!’
‘I can’t believe my eyes,’ Evelyn wrote. ‘To publish this racist disfiguration of @AndrewYang as a tourist, in NYC where I was born, where Andrew has lived for 25 years, where our boys were born, where 16% of us are Asian and anti-Asian hate is up 900%. #StopAsianHate.’
