In the 6 years my wife and I were in New Zealand, I worked part time and full time for 4 of those, and on The Melbourne Cup Day, the whole office staff pooled our money together to bet on a horse.

When the race was on, listened to “live” on radio, all work stopped. We never won but all had a great time cheering on our horse.
