The Kelantan Islamic Affairs Department (Jaheik) has denied that a viral video clip depicting a young couple caught for khalwat (close proximity) being forced to stand naked in front of the raiding team, was shot in the state.
Jaheik director Mohd Rahim Jusoh confirmed this to Malaysiakini after being forwarded the said video clip.
“In fact, we do not know those (officers) in the video. They are also not wearing Jaheik uniforms,” he said when contacted last night.
The clip shows the couple, who looks barely out of their teens, being made to stand naked outside what looks like a hotel room, as a team of men believed to be enforcers, surrounded and scolded them.
Several men were even seen taking the couple’s pictures.
The video had gone viral on social media recently, and there were claims it happened in Kelantan.
Mohd Rahim said Jaheik has its own set of standard operating procedures for khalwat raids.
“I’m not sure where this incident happened, but based on the accent (of those who can be heard speaking in the video), it is definitely not in Kelantan,” he said.
