Factory worker arrested for allegedly molesting child at funfair

SUNGAI PETANI: The man who was caught in a viral video allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl at a funfair here has been arrested.
Police managed to track him down and arrested him at 3.10pm Monday (Jan 22).
The suspect, who is a factory worker in his 40s, will be remanded on Tuesday (Jan 23) under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Police, however, declined to reveal where he was arrested although it is believed that he is the neighbour of the victim’s family.

PETALING JAYA: A video, allegedly shot at a funfair in Kedah, of a man molesting a young girl has gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place at a funfair in Taman Ria, Sg Petani at 11.30pm on Saturday.
In the video, a man was seen holding the child on his lap and kissing her with loud music playing in the background. His right hand was seen underneath her pink dress.
The child’s face was not censored in the video.

Police hunting down man who molested girl at funfair
SUNGAI PETANI: Police have begun investigating the case of a man captured on video molesting a young girl at a funfair here.
Kuala Muda police chief Asst Comm Saifi Abdul Hamid said the mother of the seven-year-old victim had lodged a police report at 2.52am on Monday over the incident.
“Based on initial investigations, the incident is believed to have occurred at a funfair here between 11pm on Saturday (Jan 20) to 1am on Sunday (Jan 21).
“Police are tracking down the suspect and investigating the case under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” said ACP Saifi.

Viral video of molested girl: Suspect was a family friend
SUNGAI PETANI: Police are on the hunt for a man who had allegedly sexually-assaulted a seven-year-old girl, depicted in a video clip that went viral yesterday.
Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Saifi Abdul Hamid said police received two reports of the incident today, one of which was from the girl’s mother.
Preliminary investigation showed that the man who was accused of committing the act is a friend of the girl’s family.
“The man had gone to the woman’s house in Sungai Lalang at 11pm Saturday and asked her if he could take the girl out to buy some food. He brought the girl home about two hours later,” he said.
Saifi said an initial report also showed that the woman had confronted the man after she saw a video of the incident on Facebook yesterday evening.
He allegedly told her that he was sorry before fleeing the scene.
The woman came to the Sungai Petani police station to lodge a report at 2.50am today.
Saifi said based on the video clip, the incident took place at a funfair in Sungai Petani.
He said the girl has been taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for medical examination.
