Chef Wan lodges police report against blog

CELEBRITY chef Redzuawan Ismail has lodged a police report against a blog that he says slandered him by twisting his Instagram post, making him appear to be politically aligned.

Redzuawan, popularly known as Chef Wan, lodged the report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station this evening.

“Just made my police report with regard to the article, which falsely quoted me and compromised my reputation, written in the Malaysia Chronicle.

“It’s in the hands of the law now. Let justice prevail!” he said in an Instagram post that was accompanied by a photo of him holding up the report outside the police station.

Earlier today, Chef Wan said the blog had intentionally misrepresented his Instagram post, where he stated his disinterest in taking sides when it came to politics.

The blog lifted an article from Malaysiakini, titled “Chef Wan snubs both sides of the political divide, points to Dr M’s fate”, and replaced it with a controversial headline that read “All I want for Christmas is a New PM: Outraged by PM Najib’s senseless attacks on ex-PM, Chef Wan the latest celebrity to demand change”.
.
In his original post, uploaded on Christmas Day, Chef Wan said there was no need for some politicians to behave with vicious hatred and vengeance, due to political differences, especially towards former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I find such behaviour so disgusting.”

He also said both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan had tried to persuade him to campaign for them.

“Elephants want to fight with elephants, why do we want to get stuck in the middle (Gajah dgn gajah nak berperang, kita nak tersepit untuk apa)?”

The post was accompanied by a photo of a red shirt with the words “All I want for Christmas is a new prime minister” printed on it.

After revealing that he has snubbed both sides of the political divide, celebrity chef Redzuawan Ismail today cannot help but to express his bitterness over Federal Land Development Authority’s (Felda) current predicament.

Sharing an Instagram post with the caption “Dulu Felda, now failed dah” (It used to be Felda, now it ‘has failed’), Redzuawan, better known as Chef Wan, who revealed that he is a Felda settler’s son, lamented how there is no use to sensationalise such news as it is “too late”.

“There is nothing to highlight as everyone is well-informed of everything in the media these days.

“There is no need to even influence anyone with our opinion as we can think on our own and we are educated so we can judge all the bad stories. (But) the truth is always the truth.

“The sad thing is, we, family members of Felda settlers who had fought for years are angry and hurt to see all these coming to this level.

“Don’t you think we have the right to feel bitter and betrayed?”
.

The celebrity chef also believes that “those thieves” should be brought to justice and punished “to save the country’s image”.

“Give me one good reason why I as a Felda settler’s son should not feel disappointed with all that has happened and voice out against it?” he further queried.
