PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested four suspects over an assault that was caught on camera at a cybercafe in Setiawangsa.

“Four men, aged between 20 and 24, were caught on Saturday night in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. A few more suspects are still being traced,” said City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa when contacted on Sunday.

He added that no weapons were seized and investigations were ongoing.

Police closing in on 5 men over cyber cafe attack

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are closing in on five men in connection with the assault of a youth at a cyber cafe in Setiawangsa here last Thursday.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said the 21-year-old male victim was playing on a computer at the premises when a group of men attacked him with various weapons, including a sword and fire extinguishers at about 3am.

He said the victim sustained serious bodily injuries and received seven stitches on the head.

“Police obtained a recording of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area and are now identifying the suspects,” he said when contacted here today.

Viral video shows man beaten up at Setiawangsa cybercafe

KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip showing five men assaulting another man at a cybercafe has gone viral.

The 23 second clip, with an Aug 3 time stamp, is believed to be CCTV footage from the outlet in Setiawangsa.

It shows the men grabbing the victim, and kicking and shoving him to the ground at the entrance of the cafe.

One of the suspects looks to be holding a weapon resembling a samurai sword and another is seen reaching into the back of his trousers and pulling out a weapon resembling a pistol.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said police were in the midst of tracking down the suspects.

“The motive for the attack is believed to be due to a misunderstanding over a girlfriend.
