Don’t be silly. Not affected? It will somehow tarnish the good name of SCKLM.

izzarosli added,

no major marathon in the world is held on Sat. N no major marathon in the world changes their date. I guess SCKLM is not major.

Khairy: Change of Standard Chartered KL Marathon date has not affected participation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — The date of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon to take place at Dataran Merdeka here in conjunction with National Sport Day (HSN) on October 10 has not affected participation, said Youth and Sports Minister Kahiry Jamaluddin. He said the ministry and the organiser agreed to the change of date from October 4, which was the original date. “Indeed, there was a misunderstanding over the date but the ministry and organiser (Dirigo Events) and Standard Chartered (Bank) had discussed the matter and agreed to hold it together with HSN. “For me, the change in date will not affect participation for the marathon because the demand each year is high, so there is no issue,” he told reporters here today. – See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/khairy-change-of-standard-chartered-kl-marathon-date-has-not-affected-parti?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed#sthash.Vpadg4ff.dpuf

After public uproar, Khairy says will discuss KL marathon date change with organisers

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — The Youth and Sports Ministry said today it will discuss with organisers its plan to change the date of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 because of the National Sports Day, after critics of the move accused the government of politicising the sporting event. In a post on Twitter, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin gave his assurance to those affected by the date change, saying, “Thanks for all feedback re #SCKLM2015. We are looking into the issue with the organisers right now.” The annual marathon is a popular tourism draw for Malaysia, attracting thousands of participants and sporting enthusiast alike into the capital every year. It is also seen as one of the nation’s most lucrative sporting events with a prize money of US$125,000 (about RM475, 662) at stake for this year’s competition. – See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/after-public-uproar-khairy-says-will-discuss-kl-marathon-date-change-with-o?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed#sthash.8waArW5m.dpuf

Dear , u hv disappointed int’l runners who hv planned, arrange leave from work, paid itineraries & trained for

The level of inconsideration & disrespect for all the outstation/non local/international runners is astounding

Events like these are postponed only for unavoidable circumstances, not for superficial reasons like this. Tarnishes the good name.

1200 signatures on the petition to bring back to Oct 4, but will listen?

your ministry change the event date of SCKLM, do you realize how much trouble it causes to the runner?

We are happy to announce that SCKLM will be moved to Hari Sukan Negara on Oct 10.
