Low Yat fracas: Sedition Act jab for Ali Tinju

Police have arrested Armed Forces Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Baharomn under the Sediton Act in connection with the riot near Low Yat Plaza. More commonly known as ‘Ali Tinju’, he was detained for making a racially-charged speech outside the plaza on Sunday night, according to Oriental Daily. The matter was confirmed by inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar. On his Facebook page, Mohd Ali wrote that he would be sleeping in the “rumah besi (jail)” tonight. Mohd Ali became infamous in 2012 when he organised a “butt exercise” outside former Bar Council chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan’s house. The exercise was in response to Ambiga’s role in organising the Bersih rally to demand for free and fair elections. Ali is also the coordinator of a group known as Sekretariat Gabungan Sahabat 1Malaysia and is believed to be an information chief of an Umno branch. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/305108

‘Ali Tinju’ arrested over Low Yat brawl

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association chief Mohd Ali Baharom has been detained in connection with allegations of inciting the Low Yat brawl. Popularly known as Ali Tinju, Mohd Ali was seen in a video clip making a speech outside Low Yat Plaza on Sunday night before the situation turned ugly. Mohd Ali was one of the organisers of the “butt exercise protest” outside the house of former Bar Council chairman Ambiga Sreenevasan following a Bersih rally in 2012.

IGP: Papagomo, politician to be arrested today for inciting Low Yat Plaza riot

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will be going for two individuals alleged to have caused racial tension in connection with the brawl at Low Yat Plaza late Sunday. One of the duo – a political party branch leader – was seen on video making offensive racial remarks. The video has gone viral and was even posted on the politician’s Facebook page.
