#Malaysian police say data intelligence not compromised by Facebook, Twitter hacking http://bit.ly/1UTVlfi

…
KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – The social media accounts of the police were hacked Monday, the Inspector-General of Police confirmed, adding that experts are investigating the matter.
“At 2.20pm, our Facebook and Twitter accounts were hacked. Experts are looking at it now,” Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters at the Low Yat Plaza here.
He said that for now, police data intelligence was intact and the system had not been compromised by the hackers.
“There is no need to suspend the accounts. For now, we are not opening a new account. We will see what we can do with it. If it is still compromised, we will suspend it for a while,” he said.
Meanwhile, a check at 5.30pm showed that both social media accounts had returned to normal.

‘We’re coming to you, Najib’ says police FB
For many, it may seem too good to be true when the police posted “Najib Razak… We are coming to you,” on its official Facebook and Twitter accounts today.
As it turned out, the Facebook account of the police force had been hacked this afternoon by a group calling themselves AnonGHost.
Since the police’s Facebook and Twitter accounts are linked, any post on the hacked Facebook account will also appear on its Twitter account, including the 3.07pm posting.
However, the police managed to regain control of their Facebook page at about 4.45pm.
The hacking comes as Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is embroiled in the 1MDB scandal, and a special task force involving the police is investigating allegations that RM2.6 billion from the state investment company’s funds had been channelled to his personal bank account.

“Experts are looking at it,” he said.
The police had earlier today confirmed that both the PDRM’s social media accounts have been compromised.
…
“Twitter too,” a police spokesman later confirmed after posts mirroring those appearing on Facebook began appearing on the micro-blogging site.
Both accounts remain under the control of the hackers.
