Anwar gets Hari Raya invite from PM, netizens not amused
An official invite to a Hari Raya open house at Putrajaya gets Anwar’s supporters advising him not to attend.
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Najib Razak has sent an official invitation to former Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to a Hari Raya open house.
To be held on the first day of Hari Raya at the Seri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya, the invitation was also made out to Anwar’s wife, the MP for Permatang Pauh Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Currently serving a five-year prison term for sodomy and suffering from ill health, supporters of Anwar have come out in full force to discourage him from accepting the invitation from the prime minister.
The invitation card was uploaded onto Anwar’s Facebook page and asked the question: “DSAI terima jemputan Rumah Terbuka Raya dari PM. Macam mana? wajib hadir?” (DSAI has received an invitation from the PM to a Raya Open House. Should he attend?)
Aliff Haiqal implied it was a ruse by the PM when he wrote: “Cara Najib nk pikat hati rakyat balik” (It’s Najib’s way of getting into the good books of the people again) with one Abdullah Sabri replying, “Mgkn nk suruh ganti dia kot.” (Maybe Najib wants Anwar to replace him).
Nausat Begum Anuar meanwhile suggested it was a conspiracy to bring down former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, if Anwar wanted to be released from prison sooner: “Nk komplot dg n Anuar utk jthkn tun M… klo Anuar rs nk bebas cpt.”
Heng Sum advised Anwar to turn down the invitation and wrote: “Nasihat saya jangan hadir. Mana tahu wang untuk makan minum sana tak halal? (My advice is don’t attend. Who knows the money for the food and drink there is not ‘halal’)
Disbelieving Najib’s sincerity behind the invitation, Seith Zaki Muhamad said” “Ape yg keluar dari mlut najib… 100% MENIPU…” (Anything that comes out of Najib’s mouth… 100% lies)
