THE TOUTS WILL MAKE A KILLING!
When all the tickets are gone but the express bus companies won’t add more buses, you will have no choice but to turn to TOUTS!
At least, the touts get you a seat in some bus, for a much bigger sum, and you get home for Raya. Hopefully.
Owners and operators of express bus companies have their own cars, so they don’t understand the problems the rakyat face in returning home for Raya. For them, it’s all about ringgit and sen.

No extra buses, so travellers may turn to touts
PETALING JAYA: Touts are expected to rake in more money from passengers going home in express buses to celebrate Hari Raya.
They are expected to charge a higher price for tickets as many bus operators are not increasing their inter-state trips.
A bus operator said the Land Public Transport Commission’s move to approve a special rate of 10% higher than normal rate for express buses from July 10 to 27 was a little too late.
…
Johor Bus Operators Association president Suchdav Jotisroop said the touts would decide the ticket prices when the demand was high.
“There is a demand for tickets and touts are supplying them. With the fare increase, the passengers only pay a little more. But with touts, people have to pay through the noses,” he said, adding that prices went up as high as RM100 from the usual RM30 to RM40.
He said there had been cases of “fake” tickets being sold.

…The Land Public Transport Commission (Spad) today approved a special rate of 10 percent higher than the normal rate for express buses beginning July 10 until July 27.
Spad said in a statement that the move was to ensure that the express bus services were not delayed, besides fulfilling higher demand during the festive season that was approaching.
“In addition, this approval takes into account various factors such as improving the level of handling the additional services, improving the supervision system for the express buses, and maintaining the service quality of the express buses to ensure passenger comfort and safety during the festive season,” the statement said.
Spad also announced that all the additional express buses for the festive season leaving and arriving at Kuala Lumpur would use the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS). http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/303995

No hike, no extra buses
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s largest express bus firm will not put up extra buses during the Hari Raya break if fare increases are not approved.
Konsortium Transnasional Bhd (KTB) managing director Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said the demand for inter-state tickets might be taken over by other operators who would charge higher rates for passengers leaving Kuala Lumpur.
“There will be a problem in terms of buses. We need to increase fares to deploy more buses. “If the Government doesn’t allow this, rogue operators will charge higher prices,” he told The Star.
He said KTB normally added more than 100 express buses to meet demand, in addition to the usual 300 on normal days. He also said bus companies would run at a loss during Hari Raya as full buses would leave Kuala Lumpur every day but the returning buses would be near empty.
He added that KTB needed 70% capacity to break even, adding that it already owed “millions of ringgit” to creditors.
…They said a 20% express bus fare hike would help them cover costs, which they said had risen by about 35% over the past seven years.
