No giant rats in Subang Jaya, rep Hannah Yeoh assures

PETALING JAYA: Subang Jaya residents need not worry about any invasion of rats, especially giant ones.

The scare came about after a photograph of a “giant rat” went viral after a rat-catching session in USJ 11.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said the photo which showed the “giant rat” turned out to be a result of the angling of the camera.

She tweeted with a photo on Monday of a man holding the “giant rat” with the caption “Rat pic caught in USJ11 is circulating. It was the angle when rat was photographed making it look gigantic.”

She posted another photo showing the man holding the rat in normal size from another camera angle.

The photo was taken during a clean up operation by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council.

Subang Jaya rat not a ‘giant’ after all

It was not a “giant rat” that was caught in USJ 11 based on photos of it circulating online, rather, the camera angle which was taken of the rat, said Subang Jaya state assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh.

The Selangor state assembly speaker said the angle taken when the rat was photographed had made it look gigantic.

The aforementioned photo shows a man holding a rat using a pair of iron tongs.

Uploading another picture online, which shows the same man holding the rat from a different angle, Yeoh said this was proof that it was normal in size.

“Barisan Nasional can stop wasting time spinning the story online,” she said on her Facebook account.

Lim, nevertheless was also slammed by other Facebook users who called him a BN cybertrooper and some had also asked why the Selangor government was blamed on the matter.

Several Facebook users also pointed out that an article Lim had accompanied with his post was written in 2011.
