Youth held over May Day rally records statement over rape threat
The 21-year-old who alleged that a police officer threatened to rape her during her detention over the May Day rally had her statement recorded by police yesterday, her lawyer said.
Faizal Rahman, who accompanied Maisara Amira together with lawyer Michelle Yesudas to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters yesterday, also said he hoped police would communicate with them in a proper way and not through Twitter.
“I hope they will take this matter seriously as what they claimed,” said Faizal.
“We have informed ASP Maziah that we are the lawyers who conducting the case, and if there is anything else to please inform us and not use Twitter like what the IGP did,” he said, referring to the investigating officer in charge of the case, ASP Maziah Hamziah.

Investigate and charge policeman over rape threat
On 1 May 2015, 29 youths were arrested for participating in the #BatalGST May Day rally. Six were freed the next day, while the remaining 23 were kept under remand for four days.
One of these youths, Maisara Amira, 21, said that a Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) officer–who was not in uniform nor wearing any ID–made a rape threat during the course of the investigation.
Maisara has since lodged a police report Petaling Jaya police headquarters over the threat.
As Malaysians, we must urge that the errant policeman be brought to justice and terminated from duty for making this rape threat.
Whether or not any the offences committed by Maisara or any of the youths arrested were serious in nature is inconsequential.
Rape threats should under no circumstances be allowed to be part of PDRM’s operating procedure when conducting investigations.
The rogue policeman must be brought to justice to avoid the reputation of PDRM—already tainted with numerous accusations of brutality and other offences—being further sullied.

Anti-GST rally detainee wants unbiased probe into alleged rape threat by cop
PETALING JAYA, May 12 — A woman claiming a policeman threatened to rape her after she was detained over the anti-Goods and Services Tax (GST) rally on May 1 is demanding an independent investigation into her allegation.
Maisara Amira, who was among those arrested after the May Day rally in Kuala Lumpur, also denied she was not co-operating in the probe as alleged by ACP Zainol Samah who heads the Dang Wangi district police headquarters where the threat was said to have been made.
“We want an independent and non-involved team to conduct the investigations. How can the Dang Wangi police conduct the investigations when the initial threat was made there,” her lawyer, G. Sivamalar, told reporters at a press conference today.
At the press conference organised by human rights group EMPOWER, Maisara recounted the alleged incident after she was arrested along with 23 others for being part of an “anarchist” group purportedly out to disrupt the May 1 rally.
She had been remanded for four days, during which time she said the incident took place.
“He told me ‘do you want me to rape you?, in this room there is just you and me. There is a camera and microphone, if I sell I can be rich,” she alleged.
Maisara further claimed that the officer warned her to answer the questions asked by a female officer, failing which “I’ll ask her to go out and I will enter and settle with you.”
The 21-year-old lodged a report last Friday over the alleged threat, while Zainol said on Saturday that she did not respond to calls from his officers investigating her claim.
Girl left terrified after alleged rape threat from cop
Lawyers say their client is ready to cooperate and police have 48 hours to respond, failing which a letter will be sent to their bosses.
KUALA LUMPUR: A 21 year-old girl who was allegedly threatened with rape by a cop is in a traumatised state and too terrified to return to the Dang Wangi police station where the incident took place, to have her statement recorded over her participation in the anti-GST May Day rally.
Speaking to reporters at the Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti Selangor (Empower) office here today, Maisarah Amira related her horrifying experience, alleging that a plainclothes officer threatened her with rape when she refused to answer any of his questions at the Dang Wangi police station in the morning of the rally where she was detained.
“Kau nak aku rogol kau? (Do you want me to rape you?)”, the policeman was alleged to have asked.
“There is only me and you alone in this room and the room has cameras fitted with mics. If I sold the recording, I can be rich,” the policeman allegedly said.
She said that despite the alleged threat, she refused to answer him, prompting him to then apologise for his harshness.
He also tried convincing her to cooperate with him but when she refused, he allegedly said that he would send the female officer out of the room and “settle” with her alone instead.
“I am traumatised and very scared now because of that incident,” Maisarah said.
Her father too was extremely worried for his daughter’s safety, adding, “I can never feel safe when she is out alone.”
