KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — The organisers of the January Korean pop concert featuring boy band B14A were blacklisted following public backlash over a video of the members embracing three Malay girls onstage, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek confirmed today.
The Communications and Multimedia minister said concert organisers TGM Events had breached “rules” and guidelines, but did not specify the violations.

GOOD NEWS FOR THE 3 TEENAGERS
JAWI can’t make good on its threat to arrest…
Malay Mail Online
JAWI says toothless against girls in K-pop controversy
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — The Federal Territories Islamic Department (JAWI) has admitted it cannot pursue the three Malay girls shown embracing Korean pop stars in a recent viral video, despite previously saying it would seek their arrests for public indecency.
JAWI director Paimuzi Yahya confirmed today that the girls have not turned themselves in as directed and that the religious authority’s one-week deadline for them to do so has since lapsed.
“There is nothing we (JAWI) can do. Nothing.
“If they turn up, we can give them advice. But if they don’t, and for now, they have not turned up, we cannot do anything,” he told Malay Mail Online when contacted here.
Paimuzi also conceded that JAWI has no legal authority to compel the girls, who remain unidentified, to come forward to aid in the department’s investigation.
“They have not come here, so we feel that perhaps they (the girls) have been advised by other people,” the JAWI official added.

Refusing hugs is rude, Zaid says in defending ‘innocent’ girls in K-pop incident
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 ― Refusing hugs or handshakes is “rude”, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said today as he declared the three Muslim fans caught up in a controversy on their hugging by K-pop stars during a concert last week as “innocent” girls.
Zaid also said that Muslims should not be rude or arrogant as he sought to defend what he viewed as a “harmless” gesture between stars and fans.
“Ezra 3 girls innocent. If people hug u or offers a handshake its rude to refuse. Muslims must never be rude or sombong,” he wrote on Twitter today via his @zaidibrahim handle.
When contacted, Zaid confirmed that he was referring to the controversy which has since led to a probe by the Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi), saying that it’s a “small matter” that “should never have been an issue in the first place”.
“Young people who attend concerts, if the stars hug them, what can they do? It’s just a harmless sign of affection, there’s nothing wrong with that,” he told Malay Mail Online today.
“We shouldn’t waste our time. Government departments should not waste time on this,” he said, also pointing out that there was hugging in other concerts held locally, including a recent one by India’s movie star Shah Rukh Khan.

‘Ustazah’ YouTube dikecam:Wanita pertahan gadis K-pop disaran bertaubat, tarik balik kenyataan http://hmtro.com/1AuaZAY

Jamil Khir denies girls in K-pop concert were sentenced to jail and fine
By – 17 January 2015 @ 7:32 PM
KANGAR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom today brushed off claims that the Malay girls who were involved in an “inappropriate” acts at a mini Korean pop (K-pop) concert in Kuala Lumpur recently, .
Describing the rumours circulating in social media as baseless, Jamil said there was no way for the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) to pass down the sentence while the girls were not even charged at the Shariah Court yet.
“I am baffled how the girls were sentenced because they are not even charged with any offense at the court.
“That is totally baseless information because we (Jawi) had decided to call the girls concerned to attend a counselling session to guide them on how to behave during a concert,” he said after attending state-level Al-Quran and Fardhu Ain (KAFA) class appreciation ceremony here today.

Muslim girls had ‘Allah’s permission’ to go onstage, religious teacher claims
Muslim girls had ‘Allah’s permission’ to go onstage at #B1A4 concert, religious teacher claims http://bit.ly/1CoMFmw

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — The three Muslims girls who have been vilified for hugging K-pop stars during a concert last week actually had “Allah’s permission”, a Muslim religious teacher claimed.
The young woman, who did not provide her name and was identified by some YouTube accounts as an “ustazah” or religious teacher, said that the three girls would have been stopped by God from going onstage if there was no divine permission.
“They were onstage with Allah’s permission because in this life, Allah gives us one thing—that is choice. Allah gives us the choice. Allah gave us the choice whether we want to go or not, do something consciously or not,” the tudung-clad woman explained in a YouTube video that is 5:42 minutes long.
“And they chose to go and Allah permitted them to go; they chose to stand up there and Allah permitted them to be onstage,” she added in the video carried by YouTube users like Pen Merah Dot Com and Siakap Keli.
In the same video that surfaced yesterday, she also trained her guns on “keyboard warriors”, calling them out for their alleged holier-than-thou attitude and abusive words.
“But behind Allah’s permission for this to become viral, Allah actually wants to test us who are so good in becoming keyboard warriors to abuse, to speak ill; as if you are all so good since you were born until now,” she said.

Jawi is investigating the girls for public indecency under Section 29 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act.

‘Arrest warrants will traumatise K-Pop fans’
Former Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan said arrest warrants against the Muslim girls who had hugged K-Pop boyband B1A4 will “traumatise” them.
“Jawi seeking arrest warrant against the young girls in K-pop? That should traumatise them for the rest of their lives,” she tweeted today.
The Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) had said that it will apply for arrest warrants should the Muslim girls fail to cooperate in the investigations.
Jawi director Paimuzi Yahya said the girls are given a week from today to give their statements to the body, Utusan Malaysia reported today.
Paimuzi added that the case would be presented in court, and that any punishment or fine would be decided after the hearing is completed.
…
Meanwhile, Sisters in Islam (SIS) on its Facebook page today said one should always act “within the limitations of one’s jurisdiction as to not unconstitutionally trespass on federal powers”.
“The unduly broad provision of Section 29 of the Syariah Criminal Offences Act could be open to abuse of arbitrary and selective enforcement,” SIS noted.
Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim said Jawi should stop harassing the girls and expressed hope that the girls’ parents would fight “these Jawi busybodies in court”.
“We must oppose moral policing at all costs. Fascism takes root when people show sign of fear,” said Zaid in his tweet.

After K-pop scandal, Facebook page sparks fresh controversy with comic strip to teach Muslim women a ‘lesson’

The idea of the caricature is not about women backing or support the militant group..it’s clearly state and obviously written there, it’s about women whom defend their dignity whatever it takes at all cost even they need to go to war… to defend their dignity means to defend their religion.. writer of this article should do more research and homework on topics you want to write next time…. or else your writing has no intellectual and lack of integrity value, where it belong to trash.

Malay Mail Online
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — The Malaysian Facebook page that plunged a K-pop event into scandal is now lampooning the Malay girls involved in the controversy with a comic strip accusing them of immodesty — as a “lesson to Muslim women.”
The comic depicts two tudung-clad women — one taking up arms in Syria and the other being embraced by a male pop artist while fans shouted “B14A”, the name of the Korean band the page previously claimed had “molested” the girls.
When asked why the site posted the comic strip, its administrators said “We post as a lesson to muslim womens(sic),”.
They also said the comic strip was posted by a page follower, but they could not remember who.
…
The strip, signed by “Nabil’s Art,” depicts a burqa-clad woman holding an assault rifle and camouflage vest in a warzone, and captioned, “Di Aleppo Syria, wanita menjaga maruah mereka dan turut sama mengangkat senjata mempertahankan Islam.” (In Aleppo, Syria, women protect their honour and take up arms to defend Islam.)
The second panel shows a tudung-clad girl seemingly enjoying being hugged by a man at a Korean concert with the caption “Sementara di Malaysia… Mereka merelakan maruah mereka diratah di atas pentas.” (While in Malaysia… they allow their honour to be violated onstage).
Sukan Star TV has since defended its post by saying that it was about women defending their dignity by defending their religion, and denied a news report that it was glorifying the Islamic State terrorist group.
“The idea of the caricature is not about women backing or support the militant group… it’s clearly state (sic) and obviously written there, it’s about women whom defend their dignity whatever it takes at all cost even they need to go to war… to defend their dignity means to defend their religion…,” it said.

TARGET: K POP! Not even Najib escapes for being on stage with PSY!
“Even the Malaysian prime minister himself attended K-Pop concerts during the Youth Day and Chinese New Year celebrations back in 2012 and 2013,” Hizbut Tahrir claimed, without naming the events.
Putrajaya promoting vice with ‘haram’ K-pop concerts, hardline Islamic group claims http://bit.ly/1xYBYHD
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 ― All Korean pop concerts should be banned in Malaysia, the local chapter of international hardline Islamist group Hizbut Tahrir has demanded, insisting such acts encouraged the public to be sinful and become depraved.
Amid a growing storm over claims several Muslim girls were “molested” on stage by the members of a South Korean boy band during a recent meet-the-fan session here, Hizbut Tahrir blamed Malaysia’s government and its “secular leaders” for allegedly promoting such events though it added that Muslims should not have attended the concert.
“If the country (Malaysia) closes the door to sin and vice, including not allowing any sinful concerts, there will definitely not be any concerts and that there would no episodes of kissing and hugging. It is simple mathematics,” the group said in a recent online post.
The group said that while the girls featured dressed in headscarved should be condemned for interacting with the Korean artistes on stage, all the Muslims who had willingly attended the concert had similarly committed a grave sin.
“By just criticising the hugging episode, it is as though it is alright to attend and watch these acts of vice take place,” it said, and blamed the government for being instrumental in popularising such events.
…
Other Islamist groups such as Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) have claimed that Korean pop artistes may be using their music to covertly spread Christianity. According to these groups, South Korea is a Christian majority nation and its artistes are secretly “church activists”.

Girls involved in recent B1A4 controversy in Malaysia may be jailed up to 6 months — http://aegyo.me/pKN

Religious officials in Malaysia have summoned the three young, tudung-clad women involved in the incident to come forward and participate in an investigation.
…
On January 12th, director Paimuzi Yahya of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) made an announcement regarding the three Malaysian women who were seen being hugged and sharing friendly skinship with the B1A4 members during a fan-event game called, “Imitating famous moments in K-Dramas.”
The director said that the actions of the young women and B1A4 members were extreme and against Islamic teachings, bringing dishonor, shame, and anger to the Muslim community.
The JAWI further announced the summoning of the three Muslim-Malaysian women to come forward and assist in a new investigation that was opened under Section 29 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1977 (Act 599 Indecent Acts in Public Places).
Director Paimuzi also explained that the aforementioned Act pertains to people who have behaved in violation of, or has shown indecent behavior of Islamic law in a public area, with fines that can reach up to 1,000 Malaysian Ringgit (RM), six months of jail time, or both.

B1A4 Criticized for Getting Too Friendly with a Fan during Fan Meeting in Malaysia

…B1A4’s agency commented, “The fan meeting was with fans of different races from various countries. The content of the event in question was revealed beforehand to the fans, who were selected to participate, and the promoters [in Malaysia]. The content of the event was shared and agreed upon.” They stated that the hugging and forehead kissing in the photos were part of an event parodying scenes from the drama “The Heirs” with fans, and that they thoroughly explained what was going to happen in the event. They added, “Because of cultural differences we explained what was going to happen in [the parody] many times, and the MC on stage also asked for permission one more time. During the actual [fan meeting] there was no problem.”
On January 13, Malaysian press released photos of B1A4 and a fan during a fan meeting in Malaysia. According to the reports, B1A4 left a bad impression on some locals by getting too friendly with a fan.
The photos in question show B1A4 members holding hands with a fan and kissing her forehead. Although these kinds of photos are common for fan meetings, the issue was that the fan was wearing a hijab.

Jawi wants “hugged-and-kissed” K-pop fans to come forward
PETALING JAYA: Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) wants the three tudung-clad fans who were hugged and kissed by members of K-pop band B1A4 during a show on Saturday to assist in its investigations.
Jawi director Paimuzi Yahya said the actions of the women and band members went overboard, were against Islamic teachings and offended the sensitivities of the Muslim community.

Paimuzi explained that the Act involves people who behave indecently and in contravention of Islamic law in a public place with fines of not more than RM1,000 or six months jail or both.

Leading the conspiracy charge is Perak deputy mufti Zamri Hashim who claimed that K-pop was being used to spread liberalism and Christianity.
“If Bollywood brings religious pluralism, then K-pop brings with it liberalism and Christianisation,” said Zamri, who is also part of NGO Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma)’s ulama council.
He cited a “random survey” by blogger A Karim Omar who claimed that 80 percent of K-pop artists are Christians while the rest were atheists, buddhists, animist.
…
PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar speculated that the tudung-clad women were “paid” to hug the Korean stars in a bid to “tarnish” Islam.
He likened the incident to the recent Paris shooting which he cited rumours as being a Mossad agenda.
“I worry that is what is happening, like the rumours that the killings in France is a Mossad agenda,” he told a press conference at the PAS headquarters this afternoon.

[OFFICIAL ORGANIZER STATEMENT]
RE: B1A4 SPECIAL FANMEETING IN KUALA LUMPUR
We have been made aware of the attention that certain parts of the programme of the aforementioned event have been getting from certain media.
As an events organizer, we feel that it is our responsibility to clarify in explanation on the events that occurred out of respect to B1A4, their management and most of all, the BANAs who are the fans of B1A4.
1. Fans were selected at random, based on questions that they posted on a message board with only their first name. The artist, artist management and organizer did not know who the selected fans were until they were brought on stage.
2. It is not part of standard protocol that KPOP artists would get up close and personal with fans. However, as this was a specialized fan meeting event, the programme was tailored towards fan engagement and interactivity. Before the event in question took place, the MC instructed the fans to not touch or get too close to the members of the group. Upon revealing of the parody clip to be acted out,the group members asked and clarified with the selected fans if they were uncomfortable with the activity. However, the fans gave consent on stage, in front of a live audience.
3. As a company run primarily by women, we do not and never will condone molestation or sexual harassment as alleged by the media outlet. The terminology used was taken out of context and it is extremely disappointing to us to witness an act of such irresponsible journalism.
4. We do not discriminate against any fan based on their race and religion. Therefore, our programmes are tailored to the preferences of our general target audience. It is not within our authority or jurisdiction to restrict fans from activties that they willingly partake in.
5. We do not condone online harassment. Therefore, we absolutely will not release any information on the fans involved. We believe in the protection of their privacy and their physical and psychological wellbeing.
We apologize in all sincerity for the problems caused to the artist and their fans caused by these reports. In future events, we will take into consideration the cultural and religious implications of the interaction between fans and artists.

The YouTube video ‘Perempuan melayu dicabul atas pentas oleh mat kpop B1A4 semalam’ drew angry response from netizens. — YouTube videograb
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11— A mini-concert featuring a South Korean pop band here yesterday has hit controversy after a three-minute video of the artistes hugging and embracing three tudung-clad Malay fans on stage went viral online.
Angry netizens took to Facebook in sharing and commenting on the video clip of the concert, featuring K-pop band B1A4 that was held at KL Live event.
K-pop, as the particular musical genre is called, is highly popular with Malaysians including Malay youths.
The 3.21 minute-long video, uploaded on the Sukan Star TV Facebook page and suggestively titled “Perempuan melayu dicabul atas pentas oleh mat kpop semalam” (Malay girls molested on stage by K-Pop artists last night) has since been shared over 19,000 times and attracted over 13,000 comments from viewers.
In the video, three K-pop stars from the group were seen interacting with three Malay fans on stage, with one of the artists hugging a fan from the back. Despite the clip’s title, however, the fan was smiling and laughing when she later hugged the artist back after turning to face him.
Another portion from the same video showed another band member kissing a tudung-clad fan’s forehead, and eventually hugging her while being cheered on by the audience as well as the emcee from the event.
Although seemingly nervous and hesitant at times, the three female fans on stage appeared willing to hug and greet the K-pop stars.
Despite the innocent appearance, however, Facebook users were critical of the behaviour.
