Three suspected robbers killed in Banting shootout
Police checking some of the things that were recovered in the suspects’ car after the shootout in Banting.
PETALING JAYA: Three suspected robbers were shot dead hours after a break-in was reported in Banting early Wednesday.
Police responding to the 4.30am emergency call despatched a team to the area where they encountered five suspects along Jalan Segenting just before the entrance to Carey Island in Klang.
A shootout ensued in the 6.30am incident and three of the suspects, aged 25 to 30, were shot dead while two accomplices escaped.
Selangor deputy chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the five, all foreigners, were travelling in a Toyota Vios car, reported stolen in Subang Jaya in 2013.
In their haste to escape the police, the car rammed into a lamp-post.
DCP Abdul Rahim said the suspects rushed out of the car and one of them fired at the police.
“Our team was forced to return fire. Three of the robbers were shot dead.
“We have launched a manhunt for the two accomplices who ran into the surrounding jungle,” he added.
