Apple: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and AppleWatch

An apple is believed to have caused the downfall of Adam and Eve.

A different kind of Apple causes the downfall of this ‘samurai’…

Man arrested in Fifth Ave Apple Store trying to slash prices with real samurai sword (Video)

Customers and employees at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store in New York had somewhat of an interesting experience today. According to a report from ABC 7 NY, a man entered the store and headed to the iconic clear glass staircase and began waving around a samurai sword while screaming.

He was then escorted out of the building, with Apple Store employees building a wall between him and the customers as a layer of protection. When he was outside in front of the store, the man allegedly went back to screaming and waving around his samurai sword. He was taken into custody by two New York Police Department officers. According to eyewitnesses, right before the man was taken into custody by the NYPD officers, he looked as if he was preparing to harm himself with the sword. The suspect was then taken to a New York City hospital.

The suspect’s name has not been released yet and no one in or around the Apple Store as injured. It’s still unclear at this time what the man’s motives were or if he meant any harm to himself or other shoppers. Apple has not commented on the issue, either.

‘Despicable’ conditions at China iPhone plant

An Apple contractor factory in China houses its workers in overcrowded dormitories lined with mould and crawling with bed bugs, a labour watchdog alleged on Thursday.

An undercover report by China Labour Watch on the Shanghai iPhone factory operated by Taiwan’s Pegatron Group is the latest in a series of studies documenting poor conditions at Apple contractor facilities.

“Low pay, long hours, unpaid work, poor workplace safety and despicable living conditions persist,” the report said, alleging nearly two dozen “legal and ethical labour rights violations.”

While Apple has pledged to improve conditions at contractors producing its gadgets, the report said its investigation showed ongoing problems, since a 2013 report on three Chinese factories operated by the same group.

“Before overtime pay, workers making the iPhone earn only the local minimum wage of US$318 (RM1,343) per month, or about US$1.85 per hour. This is not a living wage,” the report said.

“After their long shifts, workers take a 30-minute shuttle bus back to their dorms, where up to 14 people are crammed into a room. Mold grows pervasively along the walls. Bed bugs have spread throughout the dorm and many workers are covered in red bug bites.”

The report said health and safety were major concerns because the facility uses a number of toxic substances, including mercury and arsenic, but that “no one tells workers anything about the location of these or other substances in the production process or how a person should protect herself from injury.”

This video was filmed August 30th, 2015 on my front porch.
I used an iphone like this: ✗ http://amzn.to/1LbpRcH
which was placed in the center of approximately 300 ants.
The camera i am using for filming my videos is this:

i don´t know the reason for the ants to behave like this.

Rise & Sci: Learn the reason why ants begin circling this ringing phone.

Ants, why are you being so weird? And can you get that? Just take a message, it’s fine. Spoiler: the ants don’t pick up, but their bizarre reaction to a ringing iPhone in the video above did give us a new appreciation for how machine-like these insects can be. But why the military-precision reaction to something as innocuous as a vibrating phone?

t’s all to do with the invisible magnetic forces on Earth that tell dogs where to poop and ants how to find their way home, Australian entomologist Nigel Andrew from the University of New England told the press this week. Perhaps when the phone starts to ring, the radio waves it operates on messes with their sense of direction. “A lot of ants use magnetism to orientate themselves. [They] have magnetic receptors in their antennae,” he said. “If they’re travelling long distances they use magnetic cues from Earth to know if they are going north, east, south or west.”

But even if the vibration of the ringing phone did appear to rile the ants up a little more than usual, forming tightly-organised circles isn’t all that strange when it comes to organisms like this, Australian social insect researcher Simon Robson from Queensland’s James Cook University (JCU) told ninemsn.

“There are many ants that actually start forming in a circle without the phone,” he said. “It’s an unavoidable consequence of their communication systems. Having the ants together like that, the shape of the phone may have something to do with it and the vibration might get them a bit more excited, but a lot of ants will do it even without the phone.”

This is what happens when you ask Siri to divide zero by zero (VIDEO)

If you own an iPhone, pull up Siri and ask, “What is zero divided by zero?” While the Apple programme often offers sassy responses, most people say this one takes the cake (or rather cookie in this case!):

“Imagine that you have zero cookies and you split them evenly among zero friends. How many cookies does each person get? See? It doesn’t make sense. And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies, and you are sad that you have no friends.”

The interesting answer was unearthed by “Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul via a Twitter message.

A 25-year-old British man who was shot in the chest with a shotgun during a confrontation outside of his home survived the event, thanks in part to his green iPhone 5c, which absorbed much of the impact. “Fortunately, the victim’s mobile phone took the brunt of the shot and, as a result of this, he survived. A “beautiful” young woman in Guangxi ran the the streets of Chongzuo butt-naked late last night in order to win an iPhone 6 from “friends” who made a bet with her. As soon as photos of the spectacle found their way online (which didn’t take long), netizens nationwide were shaking their virtual heads with dismay. “Is an Apple phone so tempting,” asked one, “that you’d forsake your bottom line and your faith?” Another was more sanguine, however: “She got a free phone, bystanders got a free show and she got some exercise. It’s a win-win-win situation.” Hopefully she agrees and isn’t bothered by a billion people sharing nudies of her and scoffing at her shallowness and desperation.

Apple sold more than 10 million new iPhones in just 3 days

For those keeping track, the sales milestone isn’t a huge leap from a year ago: Apple in September 2013 said it sold nine million iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models, at the time a record. The latest launch kicked off on Friday across a handful of markets, including the U.S., Japan and the U.K., with more markets to be added this Friday. Apple expects to sell its newest iPhones in 115 countries by the end of the year.

Fights break out in heartland malls over IPhone 6

At least two arguments broke out in Singapore’s heartland malls on Friday morning between frustrated customers queuing for the much-coveted iPhone 6. Two incidents, one at Tampines Mall and another at 112 Katong, involved heated arguments over alleged queue-cutting, and police had to be called in. Both arguments happened around 7 am to 8 am, or just before the Apple reseller stores opened for business. “By the time the stores started to turn on lights, slowly lift the shutters, people were getting really excitable and tense,” said undergraduate Marie Toh, 20, who was in the line at Tampines Mall. “Some people just started to cut queue, pretending that they knew the staff or other queuers in the front, and I heard a lot of shouting.” … Over at 112 Katong, a similar scene unfolded. According to online portal STOMP, a group of queue cutters appeared close to the store opening time and rushed in despite not waiting in line. Police were also called in, and the situation was brought under control. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/what-is-buzzing/fights-break-out-in-heartland-malls-over-iphone-6-065535971.html —–

How Apple made the iPhone 6 less attractive to thieves.

Embedded image permalink

To you, your new iPhone 6 looks like a gleaming sheet of technological magic — but to a thief, it looks like a shiny, worthless brick. That’s because every iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus comes with Activation Lock — Apple’s “kill switch” — on by default. Every phone, if stolen, can be wiped remotely and “bricked,” which makes it worth almost nothing to thieves, who usually want to re-sell stolen phones quickly for profit. Apple introduced Activation Lock with the iOS 7 release a year ago, so many current phones already have it. But the feature is opt-in, and too many iPhone users still haven’t turned it on. Even today, thieves still have a good chance of striking gold — except with the newest models. “The iPhone 6 is going to be a less attractive device for thieves,” said Max Szabo, spokesman for the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, which has been  pushing for universal kill switch for the past year. When Activation Lock is on, an AppleID and password are required to turn off Find My iPhone, sign out of iCloud, or erase and reactivate a stolen phone. …

iPhone 6 Factory in China Sees Spate of Cancer Deaths

A factory in Shenzhen, China, that assembles iPhones and other Apple products, has reportedly witnessed 13 workers aged between 19 and 24 diagnosed with cancer. Five have died from the disease.

An investigation by the Mail on Sunday found that the factory workers had contracted leukaemia, potentially as a result of exposure to dangerous cleaning chemicals used in the plant. Apple has previously been accused of dangerous working conditions in its Chinese supply factories, with advocates from China Labour Watch (CLW) all previously campaigning for improved welfare. Earlier this month, an investigation by CLW and Green America found that one of Apple’s assembly plants in Suqian, China, was responsible for endangering the safety of up to 20,000 workers. Following similar accusations regarding the welfare of factory workers in 2013, Apple claimed that it no longer used hazardous chemicals, such as benzene and n-hexane. The California-based company said that it required production facilities to meet the safety standards for the handling of hazardous chemicals as set by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration. “The new report demonstrates that in the 16 months, Apple has not made progress with this supplier to improve conditions for its workers,” CLW said in a statement, referring to the findings of its most recent investigation. “In spite of Apple’s supplier code of conduct and commitments to prevent these violations, more than a year later, they persist.” https://my.news.yahoo.com/iphone-6-factory-china-sees-spate-cancer-deaths-152944956.html — The Wall Street Journal

Apple‘s iPhone 6 and Watch reveal: Behave different, says

Does the Apple Watch legitimize the entire wearables scene?

Would you rather have 50 percent of a hundred million dollar market, or 10 percent of a one billion dollar market? That statement should help you understand why many of the existing players in the smartwatch market will be happy to welcome Apple into the fold. Today’s announcement of the Apple Watch will legitimize public perceptions around smartwatches and wearable technologies; it will reduce the costs  and increase the availability of the components involved in smartwatch manufacturing, bringing down the bill of materials and increasing margins; and it offers more retail opportunities for the countless consumers who will be looking outside of Cupertino for their technology, be it for personal preference, platform choice, or pricing considerations.

Apple launches AppleWatch, dives  into wearable market

Apple finally made its big entry into the wearable technology market on Tuesday, unveiling the AppleWatch, its long-anticipated smartwatch. “It’s the next chapter in Apple’s story,” declared Apple CEO Tim Cook during a packed event at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. Despite plenty of pre-event chatter that the device would be available in time for the holiday season, the AppleWatch will not be out until early next year, priced from $349. As expected, Apple also unveiled new additions to its iPhone family at the event, with Cook launching the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, which he touted as the biggest advancements in iPhone history. They are thinner than previous versions of the iPhone, and the devices feature Retina HD displays and an enhanced A8 processor which is 50 percent more efficient than the A7 processor found on the iPhone 5s and 5c. The phones also mark the debut of Apple Pay, a contactless mobile payment technology. Companies working with Apple on Apple Pay include Mastercard, Visa and American Express and retailers such as Target and Whole Foods. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/09/09/new-larger-iphones-unveiled/Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus preview http://youtu.be/p0KLDna6p24 ————————————————————————
