As of 2012, ALSA has directed only 7.71% of its budget to Research. And not only that, 63.63% of their budget for the fiscal year was dedicated to “Other Program Activities” I’m not going to guess what those other programs are, but they sure are not research.

Thai celebrity arrested, fined for doing ice bucket challenge in South Korea
A screengrab from a video posted by Rattapoom.
BANGKOK: Popular Thai actor-cum-singer Rattapoom Tokongsup has claimed that he was arrested and fined 5,000 baht (RM495) by the South Korean police after he performed an ice bucket challenge on Saturday.
Local residents reportedly called the police, saying an insane man was shouting abusive words that they did not understand, and then he poured water on the road.
…
A man in what appears to be a police uniform then appears, and Rattapoom can be seen attempting to explain what he was doing, to no avail.
The man then leads Rattapoom away holding on to his elbow before asking the video recording to be stopped. – The Nation/ANN

The ALS Association that is promoting the frigid challenge promotes an unethical search for a cure. Many researchers are willing to use embryonic stem cells and cells taken from “electively aborted” fetuses to search for a cure.
An “electively aborted” fetus is the result of an induced termination of a pregnancy (TOP), usually before the fetus has developed enough to live if born, deemed necessary by the woman carrying it and performed at her request.
Some people consider that murder of an unborn child.

The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014.
The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.
The challenge is this: you pour a bucket of ice water over your head and challenge 3 other people to do it, or they’ll have to make a donation to the ALS Association within 24 hours. Simple, isn’t it? But what’s the ALS Association?
The ALS Association is a non-profit organisation dedicated to fight ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Scelerosis. It’s also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It’s a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerves in the brain and the spinal cord. This means that people diagnosed with ALS will have difficulty moving and find themselves eventually totally paralysed. The purpose of the Ice Bucket Challenge is to raise the awareness on the disease, and raise money in donations to support and fund treatments for those with ALS.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was caught by surprise when he was informed that the Ice Bucket Challenge had been thrown at him.
Lim said he would accept the challenge if it was done for charity, but would do it along with someone else.
The DAP secretary-general was earlier unaware of the challenge when posed with the question by reporters, and was then given a detailed explanation of the challenge and how it worked.
“I have no idea, but if it is done for a good cause then why not? I will have to choose someone to do it with me, maybe a friend who is not from Pakatan, and I have to lead by example.”
Lim was answering questions posed to him by the media at a press conference today after he was forwarded the challenge by a radio station’s deejay.
The purpose of the challenge, where participants throw a bucket of ice water on themselves, is to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the lethal neurodegenerative disorder also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The original idea was that when the gauntlet was thrown down in the ice bucket challenge, you either need to give US$100 (RM317) to ALS or dump ice water on one’s head.
Various international celebrities and public figures have so far participated in the challenge and to date the ALS association has collected some US$15.6 million, which will go towards research of the disease.
