Azhar said he had always been very strict over safety measures at MRT sites but such incidents had occurred over and over again.
“I have done my best, but I have evidently failed and therefore will be handing over my duties.

He said that despite his departure from the company, he would see the case through and ensure that the families of the deceased be given justice.

Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah has called for the entire MRT project to be suspended pending investigations into its safety.
He said the incident that has claimed the lives of three workers yesterday is the second such case involving MRT in two months.
“Road users who frequently pass through MRT work sites should have confidence in their safety. These two incidents unfortunately do not inspire any confidence.
“Therefore until this confidence is restored through detailed reports, I urge that the work should be stopped immediately,” he added in a statement today.
