Greed not paying for Zhang
.

zsz.jpg

The ‘future richest man in the world’ – the alleged mastermind behind several get-rich-quick schemes in the region – is set to face legal action in China.

ZHANG Jian, founder of money game scheme YSLM and the self proclaimed “future richest man in the world”, was arrested in Indonesia, finally.
.

Zhang and his team recently brought a virtual currency called wuxingbi into Malaysia, and in the name of Zhang Jian Jewelry, continued with its donating spree that subsequently triggered the controversial question whether his donation should be accepted by independent Chinese high schools in the country.

After his release from a Phuket prison, Zhang went on with his usual tactic of bribing government officials and counterfeiting identification documents to move around South-East Asia. That nevertheless would not stop him from running his money game business by manipulating the wuxingbi scam through WeChat, smartphone and the Internet while staying largely out of the public eye.

His YSLM has sucked up 600mil yuan (RM380mil) of public funds in China, while his wuxingbi is actually another virtual coin scheme operating on a people-get-people model.

BUTTERWORTH: About 1,000 people turned up for a charity dinner said to be organised by Chinese national Zhang Jian – the self-proclaimed “future richest man in the world”.

Members who attended the dinner at Chai Leng Park on Sunday were promised a RM1,000 incentive, provided they sported the “right look”.

It was said each person had to pay RM200 for the dinner, with only those who dyed their hair yellow or gold allowed to enter.

Most of the diners arrived in non-Penang registered vehicles, while some showed up in chartered buses.

Reporters were barred from entering the community hall to cover the dinner.

Zhang was, however, not seen at the dinner.

In April, he also allegedly organised similar charity dinners in Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur as well as in Sabah.

MLM under ‘future world’s richest man’ back in limelight

January 2, 2017

Zhang Jian’s company organises “charity event” and features posters of the multilevel business founder, who allegedly operated business illegally in 2014.

.

PETALING JAYA: A man who once proclaimed himself as the “future richest man in the world” has seemingly revived his multi-level marketing business in the country, the China Press reported yesterday.

According to the daily, sources revealed that a “charity event” organised by Chinese national Zhang Jian’s company, YSLM, which stands for “Yun Shu Mao”, was held at a hotel in Selangor on Dec 29.

The event also featured posters similar to the huge signboards with Zhang’s image that were hung in Penang in 2014.

The local vernacular daily reported that the event was attended by hundreds of Chinese nationals and that 150 cars had been presented as gifts, or incentives, to YSLM members.

Neither the name of the hotel nor Zhang’s exact whereabouts were disclosed, however. He was last reported to be in Thailand.

Millionaire ousted from temple

SELF-proclaimed millionaire Zhang Jian left the temple in Thailand, where he was undergoing a 100-day temporary ordination programme, after being reprimanded by an elder monk for persuading other monks to join his get-rich-quick scam.

China Press reported that the Chinese national had also shown off his wealth by bringing 25 bodyguards to serve him and placing a massage chair in his room during his stay at the Wat Charoen Samanakit in Phuket since July.

The 37-year-old Zhang – whose real name is Song Miqiu – left the temple on Sept 9 without completing the programme.

A week later, his assistants took away the massage chair but did not return Zhang’s monk’s robe to the temple.

The “world’s future richest man”, Zhang Jian, was apparently arrested in Thailand, according to the Thai media.

According to The Nation and Khaosod English, two Thai news portals, the Royal Thai Police arrested three members of a Chinese gang which had allegedly scammed 6,000 million baht (RM605 million) from thousands in China, Malaysia and Thailand.

The Nation today reported that the gang had convinced more than 100,000 people to invest and paid them “returns” from the investments of new entrants, which were not actual profits.

The scheme, launched in June and named Yum Shu Mao, drew the suspicion of the Thai officials after the company had set up a branch in Southern Thailand in the same month, the reports said.

The police were granted arrest warrants for the three alleged operators, Song Miqiu, Gen Lianbao and Wang Wenfang, after it had presented evidence to a Phuket provincial court.

According to the Chinese press in Malaysia, Song Miqiu is Zhang’s real name.

Khaosod English reported that the three were arrested in a Pathumwan condominium on Monday, with police seizing assets worth 240 million baht in total and their Thai identification cards.

KUALA LUMPUR: Members of a controversial multi-level marketing business started by self-proclaimed Chinese millionaire Zhang Jian are entitled to a refund if they quit the scheme, said senior distributor Jessy Lai.

“They have until Aug 14 to cancel the membership,” she said.

“Just bring your identity card, let us take your picture and a video clip stating the reasons you wish to quit, and we will give you the refund on the spot,” Lai told a press conference yesterday.

However, she said the refund would only be given to those who had not introduced any new member to the group.

Yesterday, Lai also refuted media reports that at least 100 people had turned up at the company’s office here to cancel their membership since news about the refund offer was circulated on the Internet before the official announcement.

“We have not received any applications as of now,” she said.

WE THINK THAT OUR GOVERNMENT  OFFICIALS HAVEN’T BEEN DOING THEIR WORK OR HOMEWORK PROPERLY! They can’t even answer the question, “Who is Zhang Jian?”

WHO IS ZHANG JIAN? We  know what he looks like because his photo was all over the place.

Billboard boast: Motorists passing one of the billboards on the Penang Bridge proclaiming Zhang Jian as the future’s richest person. — MUSTAFA AHMAD / The Star

BUT WHAT IS HIS REAL NAME? We are told by the authorities that they don’t know!

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad said investigations into Zhang revealed that Zhang refused to provide his actual name.

Refused? How is that possible?

Didn’t Datuk Seri Alias ask the Immigration Department for the name on Zhang Jian’s passport? Or was Zhang Jian using a passport in the name of Zhang Jian but he is really someone else, perhaps Yun Shu Mao?

“Our investigations showed he has left the country for Taiwan but we believe he will be back soon. When he comes back, we will be ready for him,” he said when contacted.

That is not much of a consolation for the great number of Malaysians who joined up, and are now left in limbo with regard to the money they have invested.

CDTUP boss urged to show up to assist investigation

Alias told Sin Chew Daily that since CDTUP’s illegal operation in the country has involved amounts in excess of RM300 million, the government would probe the company under three laws, namely the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993, the Penal Code and the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.

He pointed out that other than the domestic trade ministry, the police and Bank Negara wold also investigate this case under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 to identify the source of large sums of money involved in this scam.

“We have not set a deadline for Zhang to show up, but he must do so in near future or the government will take actions against him, including arresting him with the help of the Interpol.”

WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS IS IT?

This man, Zhang Jian, is said to be Yun Shu Mao.

Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that the Selangor Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Department had started to investigate Yun Shu Mao under the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993 five months ago.

WHEN?

In Penang, the Star went to Yun Shu Mao’s office in Tavoy Road and found that the business was operating as usual. The Penang Municipal Council said Zhang has been operating his business activities on the island without a licence.

The council’s public health and licensing alternate chairman, Ong Ah Teong, said the operator of Yun Shu Mao in Tavoy Road could be fined RM250 for the offence.

In KL, the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry says that the firm has no operating licence from the ministry but asks the public to lodge police reports.

The Star reports that at Setiawalk in Puchong, where the firm has its HQ, business is as usual (that is, booming!)

The attractions of the firm lie in 3 areas:
1. A member can recoup his initial investment of RM300 with just two people under him.
2. You get the member price for the products, and you can sell those at the market price to others.3. You can get free meals at cafes and restaurants owned by the Chinese businessman.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM) has confirmed that it received several complaints against the company associated with controversial Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Jian.

According to DSAM president Frederick Ng, the complaints had been forwarded to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry.

“The information in the company’s website seems to give the impression that it was operating a multi-level marketing scheme. However, the company is not a registered member of DSAM,” said Ng.

Founded in 1978, DSAM has 65 registered members who account for 45% of direct selling products in the country with annual sales amounting to some RM11bil.

Under the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Schemes Act 1993, a person or company can face a maximum fine of RM10mil or five years jail if found guilty of promoting or conducting a pyramid scheme.

Journalists get warning of ‘something bad’ happening over negative Zhang Jian reports

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5:

Reporters covering a function were cautioned that “something bad” could happen to them over their negative reports about a self-proclaimed “youngest self-made millionaire” from China.

A female worker of the Chinese national insinuated about the repercussions when approached by a journalist, alluding to members of a company operated by the businessman, Zhang Jian.

“Our members are good people, but we also have not-so-good ones among them who may be offended by the reports,” she said.

The function at Zhang Jian’s office at Setia Walk in Jalan Puchong this morning was held to protest accusations that his business was nothing more than a get-rich-quick scheme, according to a Facebook posting linked to him.

About 200 of its members turned up this morning, although 1,500 people were initially expected.

Gabungan Sukarelawan 1Malaysia (GS1M) recently had lodged a police report against Zhang after receiving complaints from the public about his “dubious” business model.

Segambut Member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng also said at a recent press conference that police had investigated CDTUP International Sdn Bhd, set up by Zhang, and discovered there were criminal elements, according to Bank Negara’s laws.

It had been previously reported that Zhang had been detained five times in China for operating a get-rich-quick scam through his business empire known as Yun Shu Mao.

Zhang has so far not come forward to rebut these allegations and cannot be contacted.

PETALING JAYA: Why is a “successful” businessman with such a huge and vast market like China coming to a small market like Malaysia?

The Chinese Embassy here says the company has been banned in China and its 26-year-old founder has been hauled up by police there five times.

The man has now moved his operations to this part of the world, and his face has been appearing in giant billboards promoting his get-rich-quick scheme.

The company’s ads on the Internet tell people that they can earn big money and drive fancy cars without having to work. It also boasts of creating millionaires around the world.

A check on several Chinese websites showed that netizens in China have posted the excerpt of an article on the top 10 MLM cases from the websites of China’s Public Security Bureau and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, citing that the operator of a Yun Shu Mao website was coercing fees from downliners who would receive huge rewards in return.

The article reported that Chinese authorities said the scheme had expanded to 28 provinces involving 190,000 people and that in August last year, police in eight provinces detained 33 persons involved in the scheme.

Chinese laws prohibit any individual or company from carrying out multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes in the country.

Other netizens also claimed that the founder of Yun Shu Mao changed his name to Zhang Jian and had since fled to Malaysia.

Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that the Selangor Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Department had started to investigate Yun Shu Mao under the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993 five months ago.

‘Millionaire’ from China moves in on Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A self-made millionaire from China apparently extended his Yun Shu Mao business empire to Penang about one month ago.

A check by The Star found that the outlet in Jalan Tavoy is manned by a young Thai national who speaks Mandarin.

According to the worker, they have managed to recruit quite a substantial number of members since the operation started. He said they also had similar outlets in Kedah, Johor, Klang Valley and Haadyai, Thailand.

“We are perceived as a multi-level marketing company but in actual fact, we are not. That’s very misleading.

“Those who join us as members are entitled to a special rate for our products,” he said.
