Transport boss jumps out of vehicle in Lahad Datu carjacking
Lahad Datu town
LAHAD DATU: Quick thinking saved a millionaire owner of an oil palm transport company from possibility being abducted.
Chong Nyuk Fah, 60, managed to jump out of his 4WD vehicle near a roundabout at about 11.30am and escaped to freedom on Wednesday. He is being treated at the Lahad Datu hospital.
Police, however, believed the case could be one of carjacking.
Chong had earlier gone to his car that was parked behind the De Leon hotel in the new part of Lahad Datu town.
He was opening the back door of the vehicle when a man suddenly appeared and pushed him inside.
One of the men grabbed his car key before driving the 4WD to the seaside settlement of Kampung Puyut in town.
As they reached the roundabout about 30m away, Chong seized the opportunity and jumped out of the moving vehicle and sought help from passing motorists.
