Open letter on MH370 to world leaders – Pralhad Shirsath

May 16, 2014

To the UN secretary-general, presidents, prime ministers, great leaders, opposition leaders, media    leaders (owners) and journalists.

Honourable all,

I am forced to write this letter because my wife, Kranti Shirsath, was on board flight MH370 which has been missing since March 8, 2014.

The MH370 incident has destroyed all our dreams that my wife and I saw together. My entire life has changed as I had to give up my career and stay at home to care for our two sons. I have to play the role of both father and mother as I am now alone in supporting both of my children, to get them educated and follow the right path in life.

However, I continue to hope that Kranti will come back to us alive, and so far, I do not see any reason or evidence to lose that hope. This is the story of so many other families whose loved ones were on board MH370.

It is over two months since the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, with 239 people on board from 14 different countries went missing. Despite 24 hours satellite surveillance around the globe, wide spread intelligence network and the most sophisticated technologies at our disposal there is still no trace of the flight and its passengers.

This is more than just Malaysia’s problem. It is an international issue because it has raised several questions about air travel safety and the technological capabilities we have. It is impossible to believe that a huge jet with 239 people on board can go missing without any trace of its whereabouts.

The Malaysian government has produced a five-page preliminary report on MH370 which has no new information but has fuelled more questions and confusion indicative of incompetence on their part.

Despite taking eight weeks to prepare the preliminary report, it has failed to address fundamental questions such as how flight MH370 has disappeared  without a tracein this modern world, who is behind its disappearance, what was the motive behind its disappearance, why did the Malaysian authorities fail to track their plane and delay the commencement of the search and rescue operation?

The report has increased more doubts in my mind and in the minds of many other family members around the world which suggests that there is some serious cover-up going on.

The Malaysian prime minister had said it was deliberately diverted from its original route. If so, it was an intentional action, with a planned purpose.

It took over four hours for the Malaysian authorities to initiate the search and rescue operation indicating that the Malaysian government has provided a safe passage and an opportunity to those who diverted the plane to take it to the planned destination.

Unfortunately, none of you has questioned this?

Open letter to Malaysian prime minister – Pralhad Shirsath

May 03, 2014

Respected Mr Prime Minister,

Thank you for the Preliminary Report on missing MH370. It took 55 days to develop this 5-page report. It is not a surprise looking at how Malaysian Authorities have been dealing with the investigation, right form beginning.

It took 17 minutes for air traffic controllers to realise that MH370 had disappeared from their radar screens and then four hours to initiate Search and Rescue Operation.

This indicates your priorities and how much you care for human life. But it is not mentioned in the report who are those individuals and/or organisations responsible for this.

From the very beginning Malaysian authorities were not forthcoming with information and what little they did release was contradicting.

So, most valuable time was lost early on when Malaysian authorities did not share information with investigators.

Malaysian military radar itself took three days to determine that the plane took a  “U” turn and failed to act in time to save the plane and passengers. And it took 48 days for you to declare that, indeed the flight was detected by military radar but military failed to act. So all is unprecedented.

Mr Hishammuddin Hussein is in-charge of both transport and defence ministries, so I am not sure how he can bring an independent point of view to the investigation.

So, Mr Prime Minister, don’t you think that being a largest airline in Asia this all is beyond gross incompetence. For me, for most family members and for experts around the world, it appears to be an intentional action, with a planned purpose.

Prior to the release of the report to the public, Mr Prime Minister you set a guiding principle, that “the rule that as long as the release of a particular piece of information does not hamper the investigation or the search operation, in the interests of openness and transparency, the information should be made public”.

When similar crises happen, people around the world come together, forget politics, help each other and share information and resources in order to reduce impact of crises.

So, Mr Prime Minister, I wish to ask you, what kind of investigation are you talking about and why you do not want to tell us, after 55 days that our loved ones are missing?

What is that which is so sensitive that may hamper the investigation and that is more important than the lives of the passengers and crew onboard flight MH370 and the lives of all those relatives who have been suffering for the past 55 days?

Please let us know what different theories you are investigating and what is the progress made so far?
