Rapid KL monorail service resumes operations

KUALA LUMPUR: The Rapid Rail monorail service resumed Monday afternoon but operating on degraded mode due to faults of the signalling system.

The service was earlier suspended following two incidents this morning, one of which concerned one of the rubber tyres of a two-car train, which caught fire at the Titiwangsa station.

The fire, which caused heavy smoke at the station, was put out by the Fire and Rescue Department, according to a statement from Rapid Rail Monorail Line chief operating officer Abdul Hadi Amran.

He clarified that it involved a two-car train, not a four-car train as earlier stated.

KUALA LUMPUR: Monorail services have been temporarily suspended following two separate incidents.

In a statement on Monday, Rapid Rail Monorail Line said the service was suspended from 8.50am, Monday after two incidents involving its trains.

In the first incident, a rubber tyre of a four-car train caught fire at the Titiwangsa station, resulting in heavy smoke.

“No one was in the train,” said Rapid Rail Monorail Line chief operating officer Abdul Hadi Amran, noting that the Fire And Rescue Services Department had handled the incident.

In the second incident, a two-car train was stranded between the Imbi station and Bukit Bintang station due to technical problems, prompting the dispatch of a rescue train to push the stopped vehicle and clear the passengers.
