Teachers being transferred for political reasons?
Pakatan Rakyat MPs have claimed that more than 80 teachers in the Bachok district in Kelantan have been or will be transferred due to political reasons.
Referring to a document leaked to PKR-linked NGO Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM), they said the move comes because these teachers are Pakatan backers or are married to Pakatan supporters.
“The reasons include ‘loyal supporter of opposition party’, ‘raised an opposition party’s flag’, ‘husband led the PAS car convoy’…,” said PKR’s Batu MP Tian Chua, reading from the document.
Also speaking at the Parliament lobby, PAS’ Bachok MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said this was likely to be the tip of the iceberg, as it only involved Bachok.
“We believe this is happening nationwide, and will reveal more information on this later,” Marzuk said.
One of the reasons cited in the list includes ‘PAS campaign machinery and wife to Husam Musa’.
When contacted, Husam, who is a PAS vice-president, confirmed that his wife is a teacher in Bachok.
“But this is an old matter. She was up for transfer and resisted it because she said it was for political reasons,” he said.
