HE MAY BE THE RIGHTFUL WINNER OF THIS AWARD: Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar

*HE APOLOGISES BUT WHAT KIND OF AN APOLOGY IS IT? Not a sincere one.
Instead of saying sorry, he says sorry and BLAMES REPORTERS FOR MISQUOTING HIM!
That was what he did when he was criticised for saying that non-Malays condone child rape. He also BLAMED REPORTERS FOR MISQUOTING HIM.

Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Wan Jaafar today apologised to all Sabahans if his remark to close down resorts off the Sabah east coast had offended them.
However he insisted that his statement was misinterpreted by the media.
…
“I said, if I could have it my way, I would close down all the resorts in the red zone area. But we cannot, because it is a key part of the tourism infrastructure.
“But the last part was omitted, only the first part was quoted,” Wan Junaidi said.

THIS MAN, UNABLE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SECURITY FOR SABAH, SAYS THAT THEY SHOULD CLOSE DOWN THE RESORTS!
“If it were up to me, I would say these resorts on small, isolated islands should be closed. No one can guarantee the safety of these places when they are situated far off the coast.
“The police and military can’t be there all the time,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.
Otherwise, Wan Junaidi said resort operators must consider beefing up their own security.

Pakatan, BN MPs team up and slam Wan Junaidi
PARLIAMENT MPs from constituencies in Sabah, and from both sides of the political divide, joined forces today to slam Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar for urging resort closures following the recent kidnapping off Semporna.
Leading in the brusing was Wan Junaidi’s colleague Abdul Ghapur Salleh (BN-Kalabakan) who urged Wan Junaidi to apologise or resign for his suggestion.
Abdul Ghapur was echoing Jimmy Wong (DAP-Kota Kinabalu) who also wanted an apology but upped the ante by urging the disbandment of the East Sabah Security Command (Esscom).
“We should disband Esscom and the home minister should take charge (of security in East Sabah).
“But only the minister, and not that one deputy of his, because that deputy wants to shut down the resorts.
“The people of Sabah are angry about this and if he does not apologise, he should resign,” Abdul Ghapur said while debating an emergency motion on Esscom.
The motion was brought by Stephen Wong (DAP-Sandakan).
Abdul Ghapur also said that security is a problem that has plagued Sabah since 1979 and Kuala Lumpur only woke up to it after the Lahad Datu incursion in February 2013.
“I can’t even read out the list of security breaches since then as it is too long,” he said.
Agreeing with Jimmy and Stephen, Abdul Ghapur said that Esscom is not working as it is headed by a civilian who cannot command security forces to move.

Matta wants Junaidi to retract ‘close down’ call

Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s proposal to close down resorts on remote islands instead of guaranteeing their security is hurting tourism, says the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (Matta) Sabah.
“It would be good for all stakeholders that the deputy home minister retract and withdraw his statement as such negative statements will have serious repercussions on business confidence, investment and development in Semporna,” Matta Sabah chairperson Robert Chong said in a statement today.
He urged the tourism industry to stay united and be resilient to face the challenges.
Meanwhile, Matta vice president (Inbound) KL Tan said Wan Juanidi’s refusal to guarantee the safety of remote resorts off the Sabah coast was disappointing.

Zahid gets slap offer, deputy says ‘shut resorts’

The latest kidnapping incident in Sabah prompted one politician to offer a cash reward to slap Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi while the latter’s deputy feels it is better to close down resorts on remote islands.
Former Sabah chief minister Yong Teck Lee promised RM500 to those who slap the home minister over the security breach, which saw a Chinese national and Filipino resort worker taken hostage by armed men.
Apart from this, the SAPP president also offered a RM1,000 to any MP who would move a motion in Parliament to slash the salaries of the home minister (right), defence minister and rural development minister.
“This to show the anger of Sabahans over the repeated failures of the federal government to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect Sabah and its people,” he added.
Previously, Zahid was embroiled in a “slap controversy” after he declared in February there was nothing wrong when a coalition of right wing NGOs offered a bounty to slap an opposition MP.
Meanwhile, Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar suggested closing down resorts on remote islands due to security risks.
…
Wan Junaidi said the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) which was set up after last year’s incursion in Lahad Datu by Filipino militants should not be blamed for the latest security breach, lamenting that some resorts were not cooperating.
“Esscom should also meet these operators to consider other aspects of security.
“In the last case, the resort even denied police access to their premises or help with the investigation,” he told The Star.
